A new “The Simpsons” backpack, wallet, and donut-shaped wristlet are available at Universal Orlando Resort.
These donut-inspired items were in Islands of Adventure Trading Company. Though they are similar to Loungefly products, they are not produced by Loungefly.
The Simpsons Backpack – $65
The backpack is white, with an all-over pattern featuring the pink outlines of Simpson family members. Their eyes are outlined in pink and green.
There are pink, blue, yellow, and green sprinkles — like those you would see on a big pink donut — mixed in with the images of characters.
The bag has bright pink piping and a “The Simpsons” patch on the front.
The front zip pocket has a pink donut zipper pull.
A black Universal Studios patch is on one side.
The pink strap is detachable and can be looped through and clipped onto different rings for different configurations.
It can be worn as a backpack or a crossbody bag.
There’s also a handle on the top.
The Simpsons Wallet – $45
The wallet features the same pattern as the backpack. A pink “The Simpsons” patch is on one side.
There is one slot on the outside.
The other side is a small zip pocket with a pink donut zipper pull.
The billfold is kept closed with a pink strap that also crosses over the exterior slot.
Inside, it’s solid bright pink.
There are several cardholders, including a transparent ID slot, and a slot for bills.
The Simpsons Donut Wristlet – $22
The circular wristlet pouch has a big pink donut printed on one side.
The detachable strap is also bright pink.
The edges of the pouch are white, while the zipper fabric is pink.
“Mmm… Donuts” is in pink script on the other side.
The price of the actual big pink donut recently went up by $1 at Universal Studios Florida.
The Simpsons Ride & Springfield
The Simpsons Ride opened in May 2008 at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. It replaced Back to the Future: The Ride, which closed in March 2007 in Florida and September 2007 in Hollywood.
The surrounding area in Universal Studios Florida was subsequently split off from World Expo (which now only houses Men in Black: Alien Attack) and become Springfield. At Universal Studios Hollywood, Springfield is part of the Upper Lot.
Doc Brown’s time-traveling train and the DeLorean both remain on display near Springfield in Universal Studios Florida, honoring the defunct attraction. An animated Doc, voiced by Christopher Lloyd, also appears briefly in the new attraction’s queue.
The Simpsons Ride utilizes Back to the Future: The Ride’s system, but with significant updates. It takes guests and the Simpsons family on a Krustyland coaster, but the ride gets interrupted by Sideshow Bob. As chaos ensues, guests end up on different Krustyland rides that parody classic theme park attractions.
Construction has been ongoing in Springfield at Universal Studios Florida for the past few months.
