Disney Plans to Simplify Genie+ & Lightning Lane Services for Planning Visits in Advance

Disney is working on a way for guests to book Disney Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane selections before their trip. Changes are anticipated to roll out in time for guests planning a visit in 2024.

Disney Genie+ is getting an update later this year.

Changes Coming to Disney Genie+

The Walt Disney Company reports they’ve received significant feedback from guests requesting more flexibility and control when it comes to planning their Disney vacations. With the upcoming feature, guests will be able to choose their favorite attractions and experiences ahead of time, save time planning in the park, and spend more time enjoying their vacation with their family and friends.

One of the main complaints regarding Disney Genie+ at this time is the amount of screen time that’s required for effective use with the service while in the parks. This announcement acknowledges the issue and plans to address it to increase guest satisfaction for the addon within the My Disney Experience app.

Disney has not yet shared specific details about the new feature, but it is expected to be available for guests who visit in 2024.

Here is the official statement from Disney:

We have heard from guests that they would like ways to plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit, and we want you to know we are working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024. Our goal is to give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family. While we are not yet able to share specific details, we look forward to sharing more information at a later date.
