“Elemental Connection”, a new pre-show inspired by Pixar’s “Elemental,” debuted ahead of “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure last night.
“Elemental Connection” Pre-Show at “World of Color – One”
The pre-show, titled “Elemental Connection,” showcases the story and characters of “Elemental.” It is playing in front of “World of Color – ONE” for a limited time.
Welcome to Element City!
Ember Lumen, the film’s main character, is made of fire.
Other characters like Gale Cumulus (air) and Wade Ripple (water) made an appearance in the show as well.
Here is what Disney says about the show:
Brilliant projections dance across vast water screens in this two-minute pre-show, bringing the land, air, water and fire residents of Element City to life. In this heartfelt story, fire element Ember and water element Wade discover that though the world tells them they can’t coexist, they are more alike than they realize. As whimsical fountains and powerful music fill Paradise Bay, you’ll see that stepping out of your element may help you uncover who you really are, just like Ember and Wade.
Clod is a young earth kid who lives in Firetown in the film. He has a crush on Ember Lumen.
The idea of special tags to “World of Color” are as old as the show itself. Its very first limited-time tag was for “TRON: Legacy” from November 2010 to March 2011.

“Elemental” will be in theaters on June 16, 2023, so we can expect the pre-show to last at least through the film’s release. You can read more about “Elemental” below.
Elemental
“Elemental” is described as follows: ”In a city where fire, water, land, & air residents live together, a fiery young woman & a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: How much they have in common.” It stars Mamoudou Athie and Leah Lewis as Wade and Ember, respectively. The screenplay is by Brenda Hsueh and it’s produced by Denise Ream. Pixar veteran Thomas Newman composed the score.
It’s directed by Peter Sohn, who previously directed Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur.” Sohn drew on his youth as a child of immigrants growing up in 1970s New York City for the story of “Elemental.”
The first full trailer for “Elemental” was released in March. It will be in theaters on June 16, 2023.
“Elemental” is coming out a year after Pixar’s last film, “Lightyear,” a “Toy Story” spinoff. Another “Toy Story” sequel is in the works.
After “Elemental,” Pixar’s sci-fi adventure “Elio” is on the release schedule for March 2024, followed by “Inside Out 2” in June 2024.
World of Color – ONE
World of Color premiered as part of Summer Nightastic! in 2010. It’s performed on the water in front of Pixar Pier using 1,200 water fountains, lights, fire, lasers, fog, and projections on mist screens.
“World of Color – ONE,” the latest iteration of World of Color, debuted as part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration, honoring 100 years of The Walt Disney Company. The show features moments from across Disney’s varied franchises. It tells a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. The show’s original song, “Start a Wave,” is available for streaming.
Some Pixar Pier attractions are now operating during “World of Color – ONE” for the first time.
Previous “World of Color” pre-shows include the Lunar New Year 2023 tag, “Hurry Home.”
