Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a wild place with a myriad of hidden details.
It might have a reputation of being a half-day park, but in our opinion, if you want to appreciate all this park has to offer — and there is a LOT — it takes a full day to soak it all in! From fun movie references in Swahili to dinosaur-related humor, there are so many creative touches in the park that you really need to pay close attention to catch them all. There are animal-related details hiding all over the park (which is fitting, of course), but one store, in particular, is COVERED in these details.
Near the Tree of Life, there’s a fun store called Island Mercantile that has all kinds of merchandise to peruse. But, don’t make the mistake of not looking up! Each section of this store has a specific theme.
Starting in the first room, the theme is elephants, and you’ll see tons (get it? ) of references to the animal all around you. You can find fun abstract images of the animal near the ceiling…
…and painted on the posts.
The next room is full of insects, like bees and ants.
One of our favorite rooms features camels! You may already be searching for hidden Mickeys around the park, but take a look at the hidden camels in these lamps.
If you’re not paying attention, you might miss these guys.
Although, some of them are easier to spot.
In the last room, beavers take the stage. The display above the registers is hard to miss…
…but did you notice the posts around the merch look like logs chewed down by the beavers?
We love how much thought went into this store’s design, and it’s by no means the only place in Animal Kingdom decked out in hidden details. Across the way, Discovery Trading Company has another unique addition. In each corner of the main room, you’ll find cardinal direction signs, like this “S” representing South.
But, around the perimeter of the store, you’ll also find these letters disguised in animal imagery!
