Blue tarps have been added to many of the window openings at the Disney Vacation Club construction site in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, along with another story being stacked onto the complex.
Disney Vacation Club Construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The Florida sun shines down, casting long shadows from the crane and hotel structure in place. The crane pictured here was moved since yesterday — take a look at the reference image below.
Plenty of work is still being done at the Disney Vacation Club construction site at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Piles of infrastructure materials await use by the construction crew.
Workers are making progress on the newest building foundation.
Structure Growing Taller
This main structure is now roughly ten stories tall at its highest points, which may be near its maximum height.
Construction continues quickly in this part of the site. Above is a photo from yesterday. Take a look at the changes today in the photo below.
Two more concrete wall sections have been lifted into place for yet another story atop this part of the structure. Masses of dirt are being moved on the ground below.
Blue tarps continue to be added to the window openings on the structure. Yesterday’s image is above, and today’s is below. Several more window openings have been covered.
The first structure to be built, which is presumably the main building, has been making progress lately as well. In addition to several stories stacking up, along with observable elevator shafts, we can see balconies taking shape.
Only one window in this section remains uncovered.
More concrete forms are ready for installation at the ground level.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Above is the concept art for the entire Disney Vacation Club complex when completed, though designs are always subject to change. The completed construction is starting to look more similar to this proposed vision.
The new area of the Polynesian will rest along a beach facing the Seven Seas Lagoon and have a pool of its own.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been around since Walt Disney World opened in 1971, and recently underwent an extensive refurbishment. While the standard rooms received “Moana” theming, the Disney Vacation Club Studios received “soft goods” refurbishments, meaning only the upholstery, art, and related accompaniments were updated.
The resort also received a new Monorail station and port-cochére. The entrance to the resort was re-themed to match the new structures.
Kona Café reopened after an extensive refurbishment, with all new seating, décor, and more. The Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area and Lava Pool slide were also recently refurbished. The rugs and most upholstery in the lobby of the Great Ceremonial House were replaced, too.
