REVIEW: Should This Brand-NEW Starbucks Drink Replace Your Usual Order?

ALERT! There are NEW drinks at Starbucks!

Main Street Bakery

If Starbucks is your can’t-miss stop every morning before work (or before a day in the Disney World parks!), you’ll want to check out these new offerings. Actually, the new drinks are also great for a once-in-a-while treat, especially if you’re looking to cool off on a hot summer day. Let’s check them out!

Starbucks announced today that they’re debuting the new Frozen Lemonade Starbucks Refreshers Beverages. These are joining the permanent menus at Starbucks locations starting on June 27th. Starbucks describes the three drinks as “fruity and flavorful blended beverages [that] feature vibrant Starbucks Refreshers beverages blended with real fruit pieces and lemonade and a swirl of strawberry puree for a refreshingly frozen, escape in a cup.”

The drinks are available in three flavors: Frozen Pineapple Passionfruit Lemonade, Frozen Strawberry Acai Lemonade, and Frozen Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade.

The pineapple passionfruit one is made with real diced pineapple and passionfruit. The strawberry acai one is “reminiscent of a classic strawberry lemonade, with an icy twist.” And the mango dragonfruit drink has real pieces of dragonfruit and mango flavoring mixed with lemonade and ice.

You can find these at your local Starbucks, but we headed into Magic Kingdom to get one at the Main Street Bakery (this park’s Starbucks location). Don’t forget that every Disney World park has a Starbucks inside — at Magic Kingdom, it’s Main Street Bakery; at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it’s Creature Comforts; at EPCOT, it’s Connections Café; and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s Trolley Car Café.

Each drink was $5.79 for a grande at the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom.

We picked up the Frozen Pineapple Passionfruit Lemonade, which has “tropical flavors of pineapple and passionfruit blended with real diced pineapple, strawberry puree, and lemonade.”

Frozen Pineapple Passionfruit Refresher with Lemonade

We thought this drink was pretty good! It definitely has refreshing, tropical flavors, and we liked how those balanced with the tartness of the lemonade. The passionfruit flavor wasn’t super strong, but we could tell it was there (subtly).

The only problem we experienced with this drink was not how it tasted but how it was served to us. It sat on the counter for a little while before our name was called out, so by the time we got it, it wasn’t really frozen anymore. It melts QUICKLY, so keep that in mind if you buy one. You’ll more than likely drink most of it as a lemonade with tropical flavors rather than a frozen slushy!

Pretty tasty!

Based on the promotional pictures, we think it’s supposed to be thicker and creamier than ours was, but it’s possible that the hot Orlando sun just melted ours faster than Starbucks expected.

Since it melted so quickly, it had kind of an odd texture — there was a strange bubbly foam on top from the melted “frozen” part of the drink.

Some strange foam

Although the drink wasn’t exactly how we expected and the texture was a bit off, we still really liked the taste, and that’s what matters most, right?

Still yummy

But this isn’t the only recent Starbucks change! The company also announced that new Ready-to-Drink (RTD) beverages are now available at grocery stores: the Starbucks Pink Drink and the Starbucks Paradise Drink.

These drinks were available at Starbucks previously, but now you can get them prepackaged for on the go. Starbucks said that the drinks are “colorful and refreshing nondairy beverages.” The RTD Pink Drink has “bold fruit flavors of strawberry and açaí combined with coconut milk and refreshing fruit juice,” while the RTD Paradise Drink has “tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and passionfruit, blended with coconut milk and refreshing fruit juice.”

They’re available at grocery stores, national retailers, convenience stores, and gas station, or you can get them online “where groceries are sold.” They have a suggested retail price of $3.67 for a 14-ounce bottle, although that price may differ depending on where they’re being sold.
