Ok, we need to talk about Disney California Adventure. It’s got fun snacks, real superheroes, and the COOLEST Spider-Man animatronic we’ve EVER seen.
Not only that, but there are tons of special Marvel offerings that only happen on the West Coast, like the new Avengers Campus show, Rogers: The Musical. Come with us to see it for the first time!
Show Overview
Before we dive in, let’s walk you through the premise of this new stage show. Rogers: The Musical is a fictional Broadway musical that first appeared in the Disney+ Hawkeye series. The musical focuses on the story of the first Captain America, Steve Rogers. The show was an instant hit when audiences first saw it on Disney+, so naturally, many people were pretty excited to learn that the show was coming to life at California Adventure.
Disney previously revealed that the musical score will cover genres such as big band jazz, modern funk, classic orchestra, and more. Plus, the show is filled with choreography that incorporates dance styles from across the decades. The show is approximately 30-minutes long and features eight songs:
- U-S-Opening Night
- I Want You
- Star Spangled Man
- What You Missed
- Save the City
- End of the Line
- Just One Dance
- Rogers: The Musical Finale / Save the City (Reprise)
Back in February, we got an update on the show, and then a few months later, we got an official opening date. Now, that day has finally come! We got a first look at the NEW show coming to Disneyland Resort, and all we can say is “WOW!” Here’s a look at the official trailer for the musical.
When the show opens, Disney will also offer a Premium Viewing Package at the Studio Catering Co. Truck in Hollywood Land for $29. The package will include a Rogers: The Musical popcorn bucket with kettle corn and soda, access to special lounge seating in Stage 12 prior to the show, priority seating, priority access to a unique photo opportunity, and a lanyard.
The show will officially open to the public on June 30th. In the meantime, let’s talk about our experience!

Our Experience
Once we made it inside, all that was left was to sit back, relax, and wait for the show to begin!

Of course, there’s also plenty of new merchandise to go along with the musical.

During our preview, we saw a new graphic tee…
…magnets, an ornament, and more!
And, of course, you can also purchase a Captain America shield of your own.
We can’t forget the NEW snacks and a popcorn bucket, too! All the new snacks will be available starting June 30th. The snacks include a Red, White, & Blue Shake — a non-alcoholic vanilla shake with wild cherry and blue raspberry slushes mixed in, all topped with whipped cream.
Additionally, look out for the Patriotic Punch, which is Sprite and white cranberry juice mixed with blue raspberry and cherry syrup — topped with whipped cream. You can find it at Hollywood Lounge.
If you’re looking for a savory snack, try the Pastrami Pretzel Dog at Award Wieners. This is an all-beef hotdog topped with pastrami, whole-grain mustard, provolone, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing.
Or, you can also try the Shawarm-izza at Shawarma Palace. This is made with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella, and pepperoncini in a garlic-parmesan wrap, served with marinara dipping sauce.
We also spotted the Cap’n Everything Dog, which will be available at the Outdoor Vending carts throughout the park. It’s made with a hot link wrapped in pizza dough, topped with everything bagel seasoning, and served with a side of mustard cheese sauce and potato chips.
For dessert, you can try the Like an Apple Pizza Pie from Terran Treats. This is a cinnamon-sugar fried pizza crust topped with apple and cranberry filling, streusel, and cream cheese frosting.
And finally, for our popcorn lovers, you can buy the Kettle Corn at various outdoor vending carts and at other seasonal carts. You’ll also be able to purchase the new Rogers: The Musical Popcorn Bucket.
Rogers: The Musical is scheduled to perform several times per day, Tuesday through Saturday most weeks during its limited-time run (June 30th-August 31st).
Keep in mind that you may want to join a virtual queue to see this show, so be sure to plan ahead if you’re hoping to see it during your trip. That said, you’re NOT required to join the Virtual Queue, but it is highly recommended to guarantee you and your group a seat. If the Virtual Queue hits capacity, you can check in with a Cast Member at the Hyperion Theater before the show begins to see about any walk-up options.
