This Is NOT Something You See Every Day in Disney World…

Are you ready to watch a RARE experience from Magic Kingdom?

Magic Kingdom Train Station

There are several ways to celebrate the 4th of July in Disney World. You can stop by Magic Kingdom for some exclusive fireworks, head over to EPCOT to see their unique fireworks and Spaceship Earth displays, and even pick up some great snacks. But there’s one other thing guests got the chance to experience today…

Over at Magic Kingdom, guests were treated to a rare sight — a military flyover above the Castle and Main Street, U.S.A.! Considering the fact that Disney World is a no-fly zone, this really is a unique thing to see.

WOW!

The flyover was conducted by the U.S. Air Force starting around 10:30AM. We’ve seen this happen in past years for the Fourth of July, but it was still thrilling to be in the park to catch it this year.

The planes go by FAST so you really need to be prepared!

There They Go!

There were two flights conducted by the U.S. Air Force. According to a Disney press release shared via PR Newswire the planes involved included a “squadron of F-35 stealth fighter jets flown by the 33rd Fighter Wing.” The first flyover also featured “a KC-135 tanker flown by the 6th Air Refueling Wing.”

It Doesn’t Last Long!

This flyover comes just as the Air Force marks its 100 years of aerial refueling capabilities. Seems particularly appropriate with the Walt Disney Company celebrating a big 100th Anniversary of their own — 100 years of making magic.

The planes appeared to potentially be in a finger-four formation. According to Britannica, this is a formation where “four planes [are] spaced like fingers on a hand, one on one side of the leader and two on the other side.” It is “a popular combat formation.” Another possibility is that it is a missing man formation (based on finger-four) to honor those who have been lost.
