Construction continues over a year after it began behind Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, on an assumed expanded seating area as well as a mysterious building (possibly for back of the house/Cast Member use).
Toy Story Land Construction
Planters and scrim went up around a section of land behind Woody’s Lunch Box in January 2022. Over the course of the next few months, we saw additional land cleared, and a shaded structure went up presumably to cover more seating.
Around the same time, the DynoGlide plane and other props were removed from the exit queue of Toy Story Mania. The queue was rerouted during the construction of Jessie’s Trading Post, which opened last July.
In January 2023, we noticed a structure rising behind the scrim-covered fences that still bordered Toy Story Mania and Woody’s Lunch Box.
Structure Between Woody’s Lunch Box and Toy Story Mania
Over a year later, the scrim and planters remain in place around this construction site.
The new building appears to be two stories tall.
It’s white and still surrounded by scaffolding.
We could see the scrim running through a backstage area, as well.
It goes along the exit queue of Toy Story Mania.
The expanded seating area has yet to open behind Woody’s Lunch Box and the purpose of this new structure remains unclear. It may just be a new backstage building.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ
The most recent addition to Toy Story Land is a new table service restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is just beyond the giant Woody statue near the main entrance to Toy Story Land. Lanterns are tied onto the restaurant’s sign with giant green twist ties. Like the rest of the land, there are various Tinker Toy pieces decorating the exterior. Bullseye also stands atop a green block decorated with a sheriff’s badge sticker.
Like the rest of Toy Story Land, Roundup Rodeo BBQ is made to look like it was constructed out of various toys. The main building resembles a cardboard box.
The backstory of the restaurant involves Andy (owner of the toys in the first three films) building a rodeo restaurant out of his play things and other spare items. Pixar animators designed figures and created artwork unique to the venue, while Imagineers even created full original comic strips starring Woody, which Andy has used as part of the dining room ceiling.
