Disney World hotels are changing in a BIG way!
Several hotels in Disney World are getting pretty major makeovers, from changes to the guest rooms to entire new buildings. Let’s take a look at SIX hotels that will have brand-new rooms by 2024 so that you know where you want to stay for your next vacation.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a whole new BUILDING full of new rooms. The new Disney Vacation Club tower is expected to be completed in 2024.
Part of the resort had to be torn down to make way for this update (including the Spirit of Aloha dinner show), but it looks like construction on the new rooms is coming along well. And it looks like the new tower is going to be BIG.
Could the rooms in the tower also have a Moana theme, like the other new rooms at the Polynesian Village Resort? We’ll be watching for updates from Disney to find out!
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
A LOT is changing at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Disney is in the process of updating all the hotel rooms with new furniture and decor. We’ve gotten a sneak peek at these rooms already when Disney released news about housekeeping returning to the hotel. In the background of the photos, you can see some details of the new rooms!
These new rooms will feature artwork that contains images of Mickey, Minnie, and other Disney pals strolling through the BoardWalk.
On top of that, the lobby of the hotel is expected to get a refresh. We already saw some construction at the check-in desk, and the former Dundy’s Sundries shut down to make way for Carousel Coffee.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Room changes are also coming to the Grand Floridian Resort. Disney announced that some of the rooms will be updated with new furniture and color schemes. We’ve already seen many of these updated rooms open up to guests.
Lots of the DVC rooms have been updated already with a Mary Poppins Returns theme.
Disney also announced a little while back that the lobby of the hotel is going to undergo a refurbishment soon.
And we can’t forget about the restaurants! Both Citricos and Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridan got refurbishments with new decor in the past couple of years. Disney seems to be in the business of keeping its deluxe resorts looking deluxe!
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Disney’s Beach Club Resort is updating guest rooms as well, and recently, we got a chance to look at one of the rooms that have already been upgraded.
The rooms’ look and feel might be changing, but you’ll find that things like desks, side tables, TVs, and bathroom vanities look the same.
Check out the new artwork in the room! It’s Donald Duck and his nephews at the Beach Club pool.
The bathrooms have also seen a little bit of an update. The shower curtains have been replaced with a glass door.
You’ll find new carpet in the hallways, too. Look closely — do you see those Donald Duck footprints?
This is a Club Level room, but the hotel hopes to have the rest of the rooms at the resort upgraded by October 2023.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
Disney Vacation Club has announced its plan to redesign the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The proposal calls for more than 350 refreshed cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort. Although the new cabins will be part of the Disney Vacation Club resort lineup, the proposed cabins will be open for reservations to all guests, including those who are not Disney Vacation Club Members.
So far, the concept art shows modern cabins “inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling,” per Disney. The cabins will sleep up to six adults and feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. A select number of cabins will be dog-friendly.
As part of Disney’s Environmental Sustainability initiative, Disney stated that “the proposed cabins will be built with an eye toward the environment, utilizing the footprint of the existing cabins and taking advantage of more energy-efficient features.”
There are other updates happening around the resort as well, including an updated pool and walking trail enhancements as well as new dining experiences at Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern.
Currently, Disney expects the new Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort to open in 2024.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Heading over the value resorts, All-Star Sports is the last of the All-Star hotels to get room upgrades. The refurbishments are in progress currently but should be completed sometime this year, which means all the new rooms should be open by 2024.
So far, a few sections of the resort have been completed, and the updated rooms look very similar to the new ones at All-Star Movies and All-Star Music, with two queen beds (one of which is a Murphy bed).
Another Big Hotel Change
If we’re talking about changes at Disney World hotels, we also need to talk about a new piece of Disney tech — Hey Disney! This service works with Amazon Echo and Alexa devices and offers “custom voice assistance” to guests staying at Disney World resorts. Through Hey Disney, you can get assistance with room amenities, guest services, planning, weather info, and much more.
So far, the only hotels with Hey Disney! devices are Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
Don’t forget that you can also get Hey Disney! for your home on Amazon!
