We Just Hacked a POG Gelato Float in Disney World and You Totally Should Too

Disney snacks — our one true love, our obsession, our EXPERTISE.

Mickey Ice Cream Bar!

We’ve tried hundreds, maybe thousands of them over the years, and we’re definitely experts when it comes to Disney World food. But since we’re in the parks all the time, we relish the chance to “mix things up” with our treats, and thus, our Disney snack hacks were born. Recently, we tried out a new hack in Hollywood Studios…and we’re taking you along with us!

A little while back we shared a fun drink secret from BaseLine Tap House. There, if you order their Barrilitos Strawberry Hibiscus Soda on tap, you can get unlimited free refills as long as you bring the cup back to the counter. It’s incredibly refreshing on those hot summer days and a pretty great deal since the soda is $4.59 pre-tax and pre-tip.

Delicious!

The second part of this hack comes from the Gelato Cart in Muppets Courtyard. This cart has been around for a few months, and a while back, they introduced POG (passion fruit, orange, and guava, like the juice you can get at Disney restaurants for breakfast!) as their gelato flavor of the day. It was so popular that POG gelato is now on the permanent menu. You can get one scoop for $7.50 or two scoops for $9.25.

The POG Gelato is a permanent menu addition!

Since these locations are pretty close to each other, one of our reporters had the idea to make a POG gelato strawberry soda float! It’s not exactly a cheap hack, since you have to pay about $6 for the soda (after tax and tip) and then $7.50 for the gelato, but we wanted to try it anyway.

Mixed together!

First of all, it might be easier to get the soda WITHOUT ice so that you don’t make a mess. You’ll also want to take a few sips so that there’s room for the gelato to go in. However, once you mix the two, we noticed that we had this fun POG-strawberry foam growing at the top of our cup!

It’s a yummy hack, but the price isn’t great.

Overall, the flavors on this are DELICIOUS and very fruity. The carbonation of the soda adds a fun element to the float and once the gelato melts, it all just kind of blends together. Should you try this hack out? Maybe if you’re planning on buying both treats anyway, but in general, you can find Dole Whip and ice cream floats around the parks for much cheaper than this.

If you try this out, let us know what you think! We’re all about those fun, fruity flavors in the summertime. We can’t wait to share more snack reviews and food hacks with you, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest from around Walt Disney World.
