At Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, the bridge connecting Ol’ Man Island and Magnolia Bend is closing periodically this month for refurbishment.
Riverside Bridge Closure
From July 27 through 28, the bridge will be closed at 8:00 a.m. each morning. It will reopen at 5:30 p.m. for pedestrians and evening carriage rides. Previously, the bridge was closed between July 17 and July 21.
On July 24, 25, and 26, the bridge will be fully closed and unavailable. At this time, carriage rides will be rerouted to the neighboring Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.
The bridge will still be available on the weekend.
For reference, the bridge is circled on the map of Riverside above. Ol’ Man Island features a swimming pool, fishing hole, playground, and evening campfires. Magnolia Bend is the neighborhood of guest room buildings near the bridge featuring “stately white-column mansions.”
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is split into two halves. Riverside is inspired by the Antebellum South and originally opened in 1992 as Disney’s Dixie Landings Resort. It was combined with Port Orleans Resort in 2001 and the two sides became French Quarter and Riverside, with the former of course inspired by the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Riverside is home to Boatwright’s Dining Hall, serving southern cuisine.
The resorts host an annual Mardi Gras parade featuring golf carts decorated by Cast Members and led by Princess Tiana.
