I can’t take it anymore! All of this Haunted Mansion promotion for the upcoming movie has me so excited for the film that I already don’t want it to be over. I’ve developed such a love for this attraction over the years, and now, being teased with the attraction-inspired movie, I’ve decided that I need more from the parks than just the original ride in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. How can we achieve this? Well, I’ve decided to take a side step on the Villains-themed restaurant that I was armchair imagineering in and put all of my creative efforts into hoping for a Haunted Mansion dining location instead.
Don’t worry; I have a plan. The logistics of where it should go aren’t solid yet, so let’s not get nit-picky with reality here. I’m thinking that we approach this in a similar fashion to the Ratatouille attraction in Disneyland Paris or the Blue Bayou in Disneyland, where the restaurant and the ride are connected in some way. Cast members for the restaurant could be similarly dressed, bringing that haunted continuity through the ride and straight to your table. All of the delicious food and drinks that have been created for the promotional period of the movie could remain staples in the table service venue; only the beginning of a new level of culinary creativity that Disney could offer.
The environment would mirror the attraction, using technology to create an environment that changes and shifts during your time there. Photo ops with ghosts on the way in could set the scene for table visits from cast members in a similar fashion to character dining. And the kicker, the part I can’t get out of my head, is the crystal ball in the center of each table that comes to life with Madame Leota occasionally as she joins your conversation and starts new ones.
What do you think? Could you get behind this idea and support a Haunted Mansion table service location in Disneyland or Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom? Of course, if any foolish mortals have any food, beverage, or decor ideas to add to this plan, add them below!
