Top 3 Reasons Why You Should Stay at Disney’s POP Century Resort!

Disney’s POP Century Resort is a value resort with much to offer. While staying here, guests will take a trip through the last half century of American pop culture. There are larger-than-life statues that make for perfect photo opportunities. Since this is a value resort, you’ll find similar offerings to other resorts in its category in terms of room size and amenities, and general layout.

2023 is going by so fast, and there are only a few more months until 2024 which means it’s time to start planning your next Disney vacation. Will POP Century be on the list of resorts that you might want to stay at next year? If you are on the fence about staying here, maybe this list of the top three reasons why you should stay at this resort might help you make a decision.

Cost Effective!

Disney’s POP Century Resort is the least expensive place to stay on the Disney Skyliner route. I know not everyone loves staying at a value resort, but I love it. All I need on a Disney trip is a cold room, a bed, and somewhere to put my luggage. Value resorts have all of that. Don’t get me wrong, I grew up in a DVC family, so I enjoy the deluxe resorts if it’s a longer stay. For quick weekend getaways, this is the most affordable option.

Here’s a look at the current prices if I were to book a weekend getaway later this year.

Here’s a look at the prices if I were to book a weekend getaway early next year.

March 2024

Yes, these prices still seem pretty high compared to what they used to be. I remember booking a last-minute room for a three-day vacation, and it cost about $90 a night. When you compare these numbers with other resorts on property, that’s when it all makes sense.

Having Access to the Disney Skyliner

For many Disney fans staying at a resort with access to the Disney Skyliner is a must. I totally understand that because, in my mind, I equate the Skyliner with freedom. That’s because there are so many places to explore on the route and a plethora of food options. For example, in 2021, I stayed at Art of Animation but wanted to eat anywhere but there. We were able to hop on the Skyliner and grab a delicious lunch at Disney’s Rivera Resort.

This also makes getting to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT much easier for most people. One of my best friends recently stayed at POP Century with her husband and two kids. They loved the Skyliner because they didn’t have to close up the double stroller. All they had to do was roll on and then roll off, which allowed the kids to stay put, and if they were sleeping, they didn’t have to interrupt nap time.

If you are nervous about riding the Disney Skyliner, I suggest boarding it from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and getting off at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort since it’s a very short trip. That’s what I did. I was terrified of this mode of transportation until I made that quick trip and saw I had nothing to worry about.

Fun for Kiddos and Adults

This resort has a lot of fun activities for adults and kids! For many travelers, this is important. Before we jump into what the kids can do, let’s see what kind of fun the adults can participate in.

Adult Activities

Over by the pool, there’s a bar called Petals, and here, guests 21 and over can enjoy adult beverages and a variety of food items. Some of the food options are a Greek salad, a ham and cheese sandwich, and a turkey and provolone sandwich. They also have soft pretzels with cheese and assorted chips. If you love Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, you can get them here. There’s an extensive list of specialty drinks; here’s a look at some of the options.

  • Bourbon Breeze – $16.50
  • Poolside Iced Tea – $16.50
  • Banana Cabana – $15.50
  • Cucumber & Mint Vojito – $15.50

If the pool bar isn’t your thing, don’t worry, there’s more to do. For guests that enjoy going on walks, jogs, or runs while on vacation, you’ll want to check out the running path that surrounds the hotel.

The next thing is something the entire family can do together, or the adults can take some time away from the kids and experience this. There’s an arcade in the lobby that is a decent size and has a lot to offer. I love visiting this arcade because it’s such a fun time, and it’s a great way to create memories with your friends, partner, or family members.

Kids Activities

Now let’s move on to what the kids can do at this resort. There’s a small pool area that’s separated from the main pool that’s perfect for little ones. My niece loves this “kiddy” pool that has small fountains. She always asked to go back and play in the water. She’s three years old, so I would say that this pool is perfect for toddlers that want to run through water.

Outside the pool area is a hair braiding and airbrush tattoo cart. In my tween years, I loved getting braids poolside and airbrush tattoos. Many times I would choose that experience as my souvenir instead of buying something from a gift shop. That’s how much I loved doing this. I would go back home, tell all my friends, and show off my new hair accessories; I felt like a cool kid.

The arcade in the lobby is an excellent place for kids to play and have fun. On rest days, I used to bring my siblings to the arcade, and we’d spend at least an hour there. We never visited during the summer, but if you are coming during that time period, this is a great place to hide from the rain.

Disney’s POP Century Resort is a great value resort, and it’s a wonderful place for families that are on the go. If your travel party is the kind of group that likes to rope drop, take breaks, and close out the parks while on a budget, this is a great resort. Have you stayed at POP Century before?
