Hong Kong Disneyland Could Be Reopening Very Soon. Here’s Why.

Earlier this year, Hong Kong Disneyland closed temporarily due to the global pandemic.

It then reopened in June, only to close again shortly thereafter, in July, due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in the region. Although the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotels are open, Hong Kong Disneyland Park remains closed. Now, nearly two months later, we’ve got some signs that may point to another reopening of Hong Kong Disneyland coming in the near future.

According to Variety, Hong Kong Disneyland may be able to reopen soon due to “reduced social distancing restrictions” recently announced by the territory’s government.

Variety notes that local sources report that Hong Kong Disneyland may be allowed to reopen as soon as September 18th! Currently, the Hong Kong Disneyland website still notes that the park is temporarily closed until further notice, but we will keep checking back to see if the website gets updated.

Reportedly, the territory’s government “was encouraging but vague on the point.” In an statement issued by the government, they noted, “Unless the epidemic situation takes a sudden downturn, the Government expects to issue new directions in the next phase to re-open catering and scheduled premises (including theme parks, exhibition venues, swimming pools, bathhouses, party rooms, bars and pubs, karaoke establishments, clubs or nightclubs, etc.) which we have not been able to re-open due to the higher infection risk.”

As part of the “reduced social distancing restrictions” recently announced by the territory’s government, the ban on public groups of more than two people will end, and in its place there will be a maximum limit of four people per public group.

Additionally, Variety reports that a maximum of four people will be able to sit together at one table in catering premises, and some sports premises and entertainment premises will reopen.

According to Variety, on Tuesday, Hong Kong reported just six new COVID-19 infections. These reduced social distancing measures and lower levels of COVID-19 infections could mean that Hong Kong Disneyland will be reopening very soon. We’ll keep our eyes open for more news on this and let you know what we find.

This year also marks the 15th Anniversary of Hong Kong Disneyland. September 12th, to be specific, is its 15th Anniversary. To celebrate, a special Hong Kong Disneyland 15th Anniversary Tote Bag with Special Edition Pin Combo is now available to purchase online at the Hong Kong Disneyland Website.

This can be purchased for HK$189, or $24.39USD. But, you’ll need to redeem the combo by presenting the order confirmation in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. So, if you aren’t headed to Hong Kong Disneyland anytime soon, it appears this is something you won’t be able to snag for now.
