Some big changes have hit or been announced for Disney World’s hotels lately.
Fort Wilderness
Over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, this is particularly true. Recently, Trail’s End Restaurant reopened from a lengthy refurbishment and now serves an updated Quick Service menu. Crockett’s Tavern also has new menu items, and NEW cabins have been announced for the resort (and are set to open in 2024). But some more changes could be on the way.
If you’re looking for another place to pick up some quick eats at Fort Wilderness, you might normally find yourself at The Chuck Wagon.
The Chuck Wagon
Basically, it’s a retro-style camper-looking Quick Service food truck that typically serves up a variety of eats, including a macaroni & cheese burger, corn dog nuggets(!!), and snacks (from Mickey pretzels to s’mores kits).
Look at that batter-to-hot dog ratio!
But it looks like this spot could be temporarily closing soon. While the Disney World website lists operating hours for The Chuck Wagon on August 7th, it does NOT show any available times on August 8th.
In fact, the Walt Disney World website says that there are “no times available” for this dining spot from August 8th through August 19th.

It then starts showing operating hours for the location again on August 20th.

The Disney World website does not specifically have a notice indicating that the dining location will be closing for refurbishment, but this lack of operating hours for several days could indicate that a brief closure is set to take place soon.

The Chuck Wagon!
If you do happen to stop by Fort Wilderness while The Chuck Wagon is closed, know that there are other dining options at the resort including Crockett’s Tavern (with its updated menu, as we mentioned above), Trail’s End Restaurant (which is now strictly a Quick Service restaurant), Meadow Snack Bar, and the classic Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue (which is full of fun, fried chicken, and strawberry shortcake).
