During a recent trip to Disneyland Resort, we came across a new bag that will be sure to please fans of a popular Disneyland establishment. A new Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar bag that’s rich in theming is now available for purchase.
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar Bag – $74.99
We found this bag at Disney’s Fantasia Shop in the Disneyland Hotel.
The small bag blends the aesthetic styles typically associated with tiki with familiar iconography. The bag is made of woven straw and looks almost like a basket.
An embroidered patch depicting a tiki cocktail is attached to the side of the bag. The navy blue patch with bright blue details resembles the mug the HippopotoMai-Tai is served in at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Hotel. The icon has appeared on merchandise in the past and has even been sold in mug form.
Flowers made of small multi-colored beads and shells also appear on the sturdy exterior of the bag.
Flower imagery is again created on the outside of the bag through woven blue and white straw.
The top of the bag is also topped with straw. The unwoven material is stacked to create the overall appearance of a traditional tiki bar or hut. A braided handle is connected to the top of the bag.
The interior of the bag contains a light blue lining chock full of symbols both traditional and unique to Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar’s iconography.
Images of leaves and flowers appear alongside illustrations of the mugs used at the beloved establishment. There’s another depiction of the HippopotoMai-Tai cup included with images of the mugs used to serve the Zombie cocktail, the Piranha Pool, the Krakatoa Punch, and the Shipwreck on the Rocks, among others.
The bottom of the bag is circular and contains no art.
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel promptly became a fan favorite after opening in 2011. Deriving its name from a character from the Jungle Cruise attraction, the venue is rich in theming and quality beverages, and thus, guests often face long wait times in order to enjoy the experience. The bar received an east coast counterpart, of sorts, when Trader Sam’s Grog Gotto opened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World in 2015. Though aesthetically different in theming, the venues contain similar menus.
The well-realized tiki theming plays a large role in Trader Sam’s popularity. Merchandise based on and inspired by the bar has long been sold at the Disney parks; mugs styled after the venue’s most popular cocktails have been sold in the past. A new line of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar clothing was spotted at Disney’s Fantasia Shop last month, and the beloved Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion recently received a tiki-style makeover for a mug of his own. The release of the Hatbox Ghost Tiki Mug prompted an hours-long wait for those who wanted to take that specific ghost home with them.
