If you’re looking to get around Disney World, there are various FREE transportation methods available from Disney World’s hotels.
100th Anniversary Sign in Disney Springs
At most hotels, you’ll find buses to take you to the parks and Disney Springs. In some spots, you might have Skyliner or Monorail access to certain locations. And other hotels are equipped with boat access to specific locations, including Disney Springs. But soon one hotel transportation perk will be unavailable for a short period of time.
While we were at Disney Springs, we spoke to a Cast Member there who works on the boats that connect various hotels to Disney Springs who alerted us to a temporary CLOSURE coming up.
Typically, the Sassagoula River Cruise Boats connect Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter to Disney Springs.
Boats
Back in June, we saw this boat service paused for a period of time. It returned after a few weeks though. Now, it seems another pause will be coming up.
The Cast Member informed us that the boats connecting the nearby hotels to Disney Springs will NOT be available on August 28th, 29th, and 30th. According to the Cast Member, the service will be paused on those days due to some work that is going to be done on a retaining wall by a bridge.
On a Boat
Again, this should only affect the boats connecting the hotels and Disney Springs and it is set to be a short refurbishment, so things should reopen fairly quickly. Of course, all plans are subject to change, so be sure to check and see what the status is when you visit. While the boats are unavailable, be sure to inquire at your hotel about alternate transportation options to get to Disney Springs.
Note that there is a walkway that connects Saratoga Springs to Disney Springs, though it will take a few minutes (around 15 minutes or so). You can also walk from Old Key West to Disney Springs, but it is a lengthier walk (around 35 minutes) so keep that in mind.
