According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Idalia, previously known as Tropical Depression 10, is forecast to become a hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and make landfall in Florida this coming week, around August 30.

In the latest cone image, Idalia is expected to make landfall on the west coast of Florida around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
The National Hurricane Center advises that the west coast and panhandle of Florida could experience storm surge, flooding from heavy rainfall, and hurricane-force winds as early as Tuesday. While it’s too soon to know the exact location and magnitude of the effects from the storm, residents of these areas are urged to monitor updates and follow the advice given by local officials.
Though the cone of uncertainty shows the current path just missing Orlando, it is fairly likely that Central Florida will experience some winds and rain as the storm travels.
Walt Disney World’s Hurricane Policy states that a Hurricane Warning must be issued for cancellation or change fees to be waived. We will provide updates if the resort plans any closures or other actions connected to the adverse weather conditions.
