Name a New Stage Show You Would Like To See at Disney

From coast to coast, Disney theme parks are filled with indisputable talent. From backstage creatives to on-stage singers, dancers, and actors, Disney has some of the best in the industry just waiting to entertain you. If you’ve ever seen stage shows like Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, or any of the amazing productions that have come and gone at the Hyperion Theatre in Disneyland’s California Adventure, you’ll know what I mean. People aren’t joking when they say these shows give Broadway-like performances, and all are included in the price of your pack ticket. Festival of the Lion King in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a particular stand out; always impressive with emotive and immersive performances that draw you into the Pridelands.

Most recently, Rogers: The Musical was the latest production to open on the West Coast, surprising audiences with a show that was created from the notion of a fictional musical in an episode of Hawkeye on Disney+. While a show that is rooted in Marvel characters isn’t traditionally my go-to, I’m sure this is just as impressive as the rest, where the performances outweigh the story to create a magical experience not to be missed. Thinking about it, I started to wonder what could be the next storyline to make its way onto the Disney stage and what I would like it to be.

Having been lucky enough to see several Disney productions live on stage, both in the parks and theatres, I tried to think of something that you wouldn’t traditionally have seen elsewhere, and there was one clear winner for me. Not only does it satisfy my love of the music in the film, but it also ties in perfectly with the upcoming release of the new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Yep, you guessed it; It’s Princess and the Frog! While there was a short run of a stage musical adaptation, this musical hasn’t yet seen the exposure it needs to have audiences bopping in their seats. I would love to see a jazzy festival of New Orleans culture make its way to a Disney Parks stage featuring all the classics from the movie.

If you could choose any Disney story to become the next musical featured in one of the Disney Parks, what would you choose? Would you come and watch my hypothetical production of Princess and the Frog?
