Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party started at the beginning of August. We are finally in September, so the spooky season is feeling even spookier, especially since other haunting events are beginning nearby. Fun fact: I am a scaredy cat, and I try to convince myself to do the scarier events in Orlando, but I always gravitate toward Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Since we are getting deeper into the Halloween season, I wanted to touch on the three must-dos at this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade
Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade is my favorite parade at Walt Disney World, mainly because of the song and the characters that can be seen. I also love the choreography and costuming used for the performers. No matter how many times I’ve seen this parade, I will always make time to watch it while I’m at the party.
In my opinion, I think everyone should watch the parade because it’s a party highlight. There are two parades each night, one at 9:15 p.m. and the other at 11:15 p.m. I prefer watching the first parade, but many Disney fans like to watch the second parade. They say that the second parade has fewer crowds and allows them more time to get things done during the party before securing a spot. The parade is just as good at either time, so it’s up to you which fits your schedule better.
Trick-or-Treat Around Magic Kingdom
One of the most significant parts of the event is the trick or treating. It’s not every day that you can trick or treat in Magic Kingdom surrounded by your favorite attractions and characters while dressed in your best costume.
When we went to the party, we had a blast trick or treating. We didn’t fill our bags because we spent a lot of time watching entertainment, but at least we got to go through a handful of trails. I got enough treats that I’ve been able to snack on them the past month, but I’m starting to run out, and it’s making me sad. I guess I just have to go back!
Watch Pop-Up Entertainment Around the Park
This year, there’s so much entertainment to see. There are two new pop-up offerings: Rusty Cutlass and the Powerline dance group. Rusty Cutlass is a group of pirate musicians that can be seen near Pirates of the Caribbean. At the end of their performance, they invite guests to the front of the stage and say the pirate oath, making them honorary pirates. The Powerline dance group shows up around the parks at random times. The one time we saw them was in front of the Diamond Horseshoe, and they danced with party-goers. This same group dances down Main Street before the parade starts.
Another group that falls into this category is the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet. I love watching them in Frontierland right when the party starts. It’s one of the best ways to start the party, especially since they perform next to a treat trail.
If you are a fan of dance parties, there are two at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. There’s one inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe called Disney Junior Jam, and here, kids can dance with their favorite Disney Junoir characters. The other one is at Rockettower Plaza Stage, called the Zom-Beatz Bash. This party is where you can dance with zombies, cheerleaders, werewolves, and aliens.
