The white scrim present on the upper floors of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has now come down, as work is finishing up on the guest floor railings overlooking the lobby.
This project first kicked off in June, with construction walls and vehicles taking up much of the resort’s lobby space. The lobby itself is also due for a remodel, though that won’t happen until 2024.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Lobby
In this photo, you can see that the scrim has been removed from the third and fourth floors, after being removed from the top floor last month.
The guest hallways are now fully visible, and the railings overlooking the lobby are no longer blocked off from guest access.
Some construction crews are still present, but there are no barriers keeping guests away from the railings.
We spotted a few ladders still present, likely to aid in any last-minute work needing done now that the scrim has come down.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is still temporarily unavailable as construction continues.
Over by the elevator bank and the closed Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the two railings here appear to still be covered by white tarps.
Looking over some of the guest railing, wiring can be seen, presumably to accommodate future hallway lighting that will be installed.
Here’s a look at the updated railing, as it looks over the lobby space.
The lobby area looks and feels much more open without the scrim blocking guests’ views from the hallways.
Looking up, you can really feel the difference now that the scrim has come down.
Some of the railing features decorative, intricate carvings.
We spotted new lighting fixtures in place along the hallway columns. This one still has its plastic covering and tags attached.
Construction crews are still present, working to finish the railing refurbishment. You can see some of what could be the scrim walls on the floor just below the crew, moved over to the side.
Are you glad to see the white scrim come down at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? How do you feel about the future of the lobby? Let us know in the comments.
