9 Things That Could Permanently CLOSE in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney World is seemingly ever-changing, and with that comes saying goodbye to fan-favorite attractions and dining experiences.

Animal Kingdom

At the 2023 Destination D23 event, Disney shared a few new things that would be coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For new things to come to Animal Kingdom, it’s likely that we’ll have to say goodbye to some old favorites.

At the event, Disney announced that it would be transforming the area now known as DinoLand U.S.A. into a land themed around the Tropical Americas. While they did not confirm anything specific coming to the Tropical Americas, they mentioned that attractions themed around Encanto and Indiana Jones could come to this area of Animal Kingdom.

In addition, Disney announced that a Zootopia-themed show would be coming to the Tree of Life Theater. So, we’re listing the attractions that COULD permanently close if Disney follows through with those plans. Let’s talk about it!

Dinosaur

With DinoLand U.S.A. being replaced, it’s pretty certain that the land’s marquee attraction — Dinosaur — will close.

And, as we said above, Disney hinted that an all-new Indiana Jones attraction could arrive in Animal Kingdom. At Disneyland, the Indiana Jones ride has the same technology as the Dinosaur attraction in Disney World, so we have a feeling that Dinosaur might be replaced with good ol’ Indy!

It’s Tough To Be a Bug

Disney shared that a Zootopia-themed show would come to the Tree of Life, and many Disney fans believe that this show will replace It’s Tough To Be A Bug.

It’s Tough To Be A Bug

This show has been frightening kids and adults alike since Animal Kingdom opened in 1998! The Disney California Adventure version of this show closed in 2018, so maybe it was only a matter of time until Flik was given his walking papers in Florida, too.

Every Single Thing In DinoLand, U.S.A.

That re-theme of Dinoland, U.S.A. would mean many other attractions, shops, and restaurants will close. Yep, that includes Triceratop Spin, Dino-Bite Snacks, Restaurantosaurus, Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, Fossil Fun Games, Trilo-Bites, and The Boneyard. Yep, that’s seven things — plus Dinosaur — that will close in DinoLand, U.S.A. alone!

Disney could be re-theming each of these things, or they could demolish them and start anew as they transform the land to represent the Tropical Americas. As of right now, we have no idea. When Disney shares the news as to what will become of DinoLand, U.S.A.’s current attractions, shops, and restaurants, we will let you all know!

We made a video about ALL the big news that came out of Destination D23, and you can watch it right here!
