Why You Might Want To Avoid EPCOT on October 16th

We give you plenty of reasons all the time to visit EPCOT

EPCOT

… but rarely do we caution you from it. Even though all of the Communicore Hall construction, Food and Wine festival crowds, and whatever’s been going on with the construction in the World Showcase lagoon getting ready for the new nighttime show — Luminous The Symphony of Us, can make your next visit less than desirable, we’ve got a feeling about one particular day soon that you might not mind sitting out.

It feels like there has been SO MUCH going on at EPCOT for so long, it’s hard to remember a time without so many construction walls surrounding you. However, the time is coming when we’re finally going to see fewer walls holding back construction and (more than likely) an influx of crowds!

Lots of crowds and construction

October 16th, 2023 could prove to be a very busy day in EPCOT, and for good reason. We’ve been counting down the days until Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana fully opens, and we’ll finally see that opening realized.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana takes you through interactive spray grounds with multiple paths that allow you to experience the fun of jumping water fountains and dripping waterfalls or take a dryer approach to watch it all unfold before you.

While this immersive area is built for play during the day, it will also offer astounding views through the evening hours, and we venture to guess we’re not the only ones that will be interested in seeing it fully lit up!

That’s not all to keep a watchful eye on, Moana will be around for a meet and greet nearby, too! That’s right — Moana will be enjoying her own dedicated meeting space somewhere around the new attraction.

The plans to open Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, and introduce her meet and greet at EPCOT were both announced during Destination D23 this year.

Additionally, the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary will be celebrated in Disney World with EPCOT at the epicenter of it all! The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio opened on October 16th, 1923, so this day is the actual 100th anniversary of the company!

Putting EPCOT at the very center of this celebration marks not only a century of magic and innovation but also ushering in the future as the multi-year transformation of the park wraps up.

Lots of exciting things will be happening soon around EPCOT, and while this day is set to be busy, there will still be plenty of time to enjoy everything there is to offer. For the latest in Disney news and updates, make sure to follow along with us here at Disney Food Blog.
