Why Fans Are Skipping Disney World’s Newest Deluxe Hotel

Staying at one of Disney World’s deluxe hotels feels pretty good. You have access to some amazing restaurants, additional transportation options, and even Extended evening Hours in the parks!

Of course, all those extra amenities come at a pretty steep price. A weeklong stay at one of the deluxe resorts on Disney property can cost several thousand dollars — and that’s not even including park tickets or transportation. While Disney’s deluxe hotels are all pretty popular, we’ve noticed that one of the newest resorts on property just isn’t quite as famous as the others.

OK, to be fair, the hotel we’re talking about is technically a “Good Neighbor” hotel (meaning it isn’t owned by Disney), but resort guests still enjoy the same perks as a deluxe Disney World eluxe hotel guest, like Extended Evening Hours. Despite the fact that Walt Disney World Swan Reserve is a fairly new hotel, we don’t seem to see many people talking about this resort. Why?

Walt Disney World Swan Reserve Hotel

Well, first of all, the Swan Reserve is pretty expensive. For a family of four, a one-week vacation package in a one-bedroom Signature Suite in early January 2024 costs almost $8,000. (Note: if you want to purchase your park tickets separately, you’ll need to call 407-939-5277 for the room-only rates.) For such a high price, many families may prefer to be closer to the Disney parks or have access to more Disney dining options.

Additionally, this hotel has a pretty major drawback: It’s not easy to walk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT. If you’re looking for a Good Neighbor hotel in the EPCOT resort area, you might as well stay at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel or the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel instead, as these resorts make it a little easier to travel to two Disney World parks. In fact, there’s even a boat dock by the Swan and Dolphin hotels!

There’s the boat!

While the Swan Reserve isn’t far from the Swan and Dolphin hotels, it is the furthest away from all the other EPCOT resort hotels. Since the hotel is across the street, it takes a little extra walking to get to the EPCOT International Gateway entrance. After a long day in the parks, walking those few extra steps can feel like walking an entire marathon.

The Swan Reserve is across the street

Although the Swan and Dolphin hotels are a little older than the Swan Reserve, ultimately, it may be worth it to stay in the older hotels just for that prime real estate.

You can see the old Swan and Dolphin hotels in the distance!

Now, to be fair, the Swan Reserve is a lovely hotel. It’s bright, clean, elegant, and there’s a nice pool, too. And don’t forget that because it’s part of the Marriott Bonvoy family, you can use your Bonvoy points here to make your stay cheaper. Or you can earn points on your stay that you can use toward your next one!

We love trying our all the new hotels around Disney World, and this one is no exception, but these are some reasons you may not be hearing much about it. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
