A Disney World Hotel is Permanently CLOSED

And just like that, another iconic Disney World experience is just a memory.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened on March 1st, 2022 and provided fans with an immersive and unforgettable experience aboard the Halcyon. However, after 19 months, this experience has officially closed.

September 30th, 2023 marked the final date of the last voyage on the Starcruiser. Disney announced in May of 2023 that the experience would be discontinued, but that didn’t make it any less sad for Star Wars fans who loved the experience.

As to why the experience closed, Disney executives stated that it simply “didn’t perform.” The experience in question consisted of a 2-night voyage in which you stayed at the hotel at all times other than to embark on excursions to Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

You’d eat, sleep, play, and meet characters —  all without leaving the ship! Except… it was like, $2,000 or more per person, per voyage, depending on your package. For many folks, the price just wasn’t worth it, especially since you couldn’t really even leave to visit the other parks while staying here.

While it’s an undeniably cool experience, a lot of folks just couldn’t justify those dolla signs!
