Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is a beautiful and compact moderate resort. The hotel is close to Disney Springs and Magic Kingdom, which is a great benefit. Here, guests can immerse themselves in the romance and pageantry of New Orleans’s historic French Quarter. You’ll find cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies, and fragrant magnolia blossoms, along with colorful Mardi Gras characters and the sounds of jazz. On my last trip to the resort, I refreshed my pros and cons list, and I wanted to share it with you!
Pros
- Beautiful grounds – The resort is stunning. The cobblestone roads, the wrought-iron balconies, and the vibrant colors. I feel like Disney takes care of this resort really well. I never see anything broken or falling apart.
- Small and quiet – This is the smallest resort at Walt Disney World. Not only is it small, but it’s also quiet and peaceful. Whenever I’m here, I feel like I’m somewhere that isn’t even at Disney World because of how peaceful it is.
- Mickey-shaped Beignets – This is the only place at Walt Disney World where guests can order Mickey-shaped Beignets. These are iconic snacks that I think everyone should try. If you have a gluten allergy, don’t worry; they have allergy-friendly beignets too!
- Boat Transportation – At Port Orleans French Quarter, they offer boat transportation to Disney Springs and Port Orleans Riverside. This is very convenient for guests who love visiting Disney Springs. It’s a gorgeous boat ride, too!
- Walking Path/ Jogging Trail – There is a beautiful walking path that takes guests to Port Orleans Riverside. The walk isn’t super long. You can get there in 10 or 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. I have seen many guests also use this as a jogging trail. It is a beautiful pathway that goes along the Sassagoula River.
Cons
- Less amenities – Since this is a smaller resort, there are less amenities. On the bright side, the amenities it is missing are at Port Orleans Riverside, which is just a walk or one boat ride away.
- No Table Service Restaurant – Port Orleans French Quarter doesn’t have a table service dining location. They have a quick service and a cafe and a lounge. Port Orleans Riverside has a table service restaurant, Boatwright’s Dining Hall, which serves delicious food. I highly recommend walking over to Riverside and grabbing dinner there.
- Fewer recreation activities – Again, since it’s a smaller resort, there’s not as much to do recreation-wise. They offer daily activities for kids and families, but if you are looking for more to do, Riverside has some more activities and pools.
- Room capacity – Port Orleans French Quarter rooms max out at four guests, which isn’t great for larger families. This resort is definitely better for couples, smaller families, or a group of friends.
Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons. Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort is a gorgeous and fabulous resort that is great for anyone wanting a peaceful and quiet vacation. This is my favorite moderate resort because of its compactness and overall aesthetic. Now that I’ve shared my pros and cons list, I’d love for you to share yours in the comment section!
