The Grim Grinning Ghosts are thrilled (and so am I)! Rumors have been flying, but Disney recently confirmed that Ghoulish Delight Beignets will be available until Halloween. These new limited-time treats were first introduced in July to celebrate the opening of the new Haunted Mansion movie. If you haven’t had the chance to sample these delectable delights, plan a visit to Scat Cat’s Club Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter by October 31. Consider catching a water taxi from Disney Springs to Port Orleans. A leisurely boat ride down the Sassagoula River is my favorite way to get there.
These Beignets Are Delicious!
I’m a huge fan of traditional Mickey beignets, but kudos to the Disney culinary team for creating this distinctive new twist. The dusting of cookies ‘n cream powdered sugar and a marshmallow creme drizzle take beignets to a new level. The finely crushed cookies atop the pastry provides just a hint of chocolate. The marshmallow creme brings forth a pleasant boost of vanilla flavor. What a complex gastronomical experience when each bite can differ wildly depending on the specific amount of cookie and drizzle. The Ghoulish beignets are also less messy than the original powdered sugar ones, so your shirt may thank you.
Perfect Snack For The Halloween Season
Halloween is in full swing at Disney with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates four nights every week. The Ghoulish Beignets are by far one of the best tasting and unique desserts to match the spooky season. The overall “tombstone” gray color is pure perfection. The zig-zag effect of the drizzle reminds me of the cobwebs seen inside the Haunted Mansion ride. The marshmallow creme makes me think of ghoulish Halloween figures like ghosts and mummies. A dash of purple adds vibrancy and mystery to the treat. Many Disney holiday treats are visually impressive, but sometimes miss the mark a bit on flavor. The Ghoulish Delight Beignets definitely hit every note just right.
Haunted Mansion Fever is Still Going Strong
I’m always in a Haunted Mansion mood. I proudly wear my 999 Happy Haunts t-shirt while visiting Disney World, regardless of the time of year. However, right now, Haunted Mansion mania seems to be everywhere. The movie, well-liked by audiences (84% score on Rotten Tomatoes), remained showing in most theaters nationwide well after its premiere. Its popularity will likely continue to rise with fans now that it’s on Disney+. New Haunted Mansion RSVLTS shirts were recently unveiled, and many styles are already sold out. Disneyland just announced new enhancements to the surrounding areas of the west coast Haunted Mansion. A variety of Haunted Mansion merchandise is available for purchase, including clothing, sleepwear, and much more. Personally, I’ve got my eye on the Haunted Mansion MagicBand+ featuring a lively Hat Box Ghost.
I’m hoping the new beignet recipe will make a triumphant return again next year. Based on the rave reviews I’ve heard from many, Disney should make the Ghoulish Delight Beignets an annual Halloween treat and tradition (perhaps even to both parks, coast to coast).
