Though history (and five men) would advise against occupying the same home as Constance Hatchaway, you can now add some haunted flare to your abode with this Haunted Mansion bride figurine that recently materialized at Walt Disney World Resort. The spooky statue depicts the character as she’s seen in the attraction and also contains a few references to the iconic ride; we found it at Tower Hotel Gifts, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror gift shop, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Haunted Mansion Bride Figure – $199.00
Constance appears in spirit form in a ghostly pale blue hue. She’s wearing her wedding dress and bridal veil as she holds a hatchet in her left hand, a reference to the… unfortunate (and surely coincidental) means through which each of her five husbands met their respective untimely demise.
She’s flanked on one side by a grand portrait depicting her and one of her late husbands and by a wedding cake on the other; these are the same items that her audio-animatronic stands in front of in the Haunted Mansion attraction. The window through which guests exit the mansion and enter the graveyard stands behind her.
The figurine illuminates and speaks her dialogue from the attraction. Constance recites a slightly distorted version of her wedding vows in the attic scene of the Haunted Mansion, stating “Here comes the bride, as long as we both shall live, for better or for worse, I do. In sickness and in wealth, you may now kiss the bride, we’ll live happily ever after, till death do us part.”
The figure delivers a slightly abridged version of these vows, stating “Here comes the bride, for better or for worse, we’ll live happily ever after, till death do us part” over a harsh piano riff.
This figurine is also available on shopDisney exclusively for Disney+ subscribers.
Haunted Mansion
Constance Hatchaway is an evolution of the Haunted Mansion bride that appeared in the attic scene of the original attraction. The current rendition of the character debuted in 2006; in the updated attraction lore, she murdered each of her five husbands with a hatchet, inheriting the mansion from her final partner. She appears as a major character in the “Muppets Haunted Mansion” Disney+ movie that premiered in 2021 (portrayed by Taraji P. Henson) and as an easter egg in the 2023 theatrically-released “Haunted Mansion” film (portrayed by Lindsay Lamb).
The Haunted Mansion opened at Disneyland Park in 1969 and on opening day at Walt Disney World in 1971. A near-clone of the Magic Kingdom attraction opened at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, and the ride has even served as the inspiration for a number of Disney attractions across the globe (Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris and Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland).
The atmospheric ride strikes a delicate blend between frightening and funny that has charmed generations. The Disneyland version of the attraction received a major addition in 2015 when the Hatbox Ghost, an original effect removed from the ride due to technical difficulties, was re-added. The Hatbox Ghost is due to debut at the Magic Kingdom version of the Haunted Mansion in late November.
