Is This Disney World Restaurant LYING to Us?

There are a lot of restaurants in Disney World, and many of them we highly recommend you take the time to visit.

We’re also super excited about some other restaurants opening later this year, but we’re halfway through October, and we’re really starting to wonder if Disney is lying to us about this one restaurant on the way.

Summer House on the Lake is a new restaurant opening in Disney Springs, supposedly by the end of 2023. There are other locations of this restaurant around the country in Chicago and Maryland, and they focus on pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pasta, wood-grilled dishes, and more.

You’ll also be able to find The Cookie Jar inside (“a dessert-focused market” that serves “freshly baked cookies and house-made pastries.”), as well as experience a signature Rosé Cart. However, will this restaurant really open by the end of 2023? We’re really starting to doubt that.

We keep up with the construction of all of Disney World’s projects, and it looks like Summer House still has a lot of work to go — enough that we’re really starting to wonder if it’ll get to open before the end of the year.

Not only that, it wouldn’t be the only time Disney has pushed back the opening date of a restaurant. In fact, the Cake Bake Shop was also supposed to open at Disney’s BoardWalk in 2023 but has been pushed back to early 2024. Trattoria al Forno also opened later than originally planned earlier this year.

So when would Disney make this announcement? There’s no way to tell for sure, but it would have to be pretty soon since the end of the year is approaching. It’s either that or the restaurant will have to ramp up its construction process. Regardless, we’ll keep you updated on all the latest, so stay tuned to DFB!
