REVIEW: Tons of NEW Food Just Landed in Disney World – These Are the 2 Things You CAN’T MISS

If you’ve ever been to the Cheesecake Factory, you know that some restaurant menus are excessively long. Seriously — if a restaurant needs spiral binding to hold all its menu pages together, there may be too many options. On the other hand, some people prefer restaurants that have smaller, constantly rotating menus. For example, Homecomin’ in Disney Springs just debuted four new menu items!

Here at Disney Food Blog, we like a little variety. Sure, you can’t go wrong with the classic menu items at places like Wine Bar George or Le Cellier, but it’s nice to see what’s new every once in a while! We’ve been trying a LOT of new menu items recently, so now we’re back to show off the top TWO new menu items we can’t stop thinking about.

Let’s start with a simple but oh-so-sweet new menu item from Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Introducing…the Not-So-Poison Apple, available for $7.99. Don’t worry; no evil witches were involved in the creation of this treat.

Not-So-Poison Apple

This may look and sound a tad familiar to true Disney snack lovers; we tried a Not-So-Poison apple cupcake a few years ago with similar flavors. But this guy is a little different. It’s a chocolate cauldron filled with Apple Spice Cake, Apple Filling, and Caramel Buttercream topped with Apple Mousse. There’s not one element of that description we’d change, so we’re off to a promising start.

Pretty cool looking, right?

Now, this treat made it to our “top new desserts” list, so you already know we’re about to tell you how great this thing is. From the creative decorations to the sweet, crisp apple flavor, we have no complaints. It’s messy, yes, but the apple-flavored mousse, chocolate, and apple cinnamon filling all come together for the ultimate fall dessert. Apples, people. They make practically every dessert a little better.

Look at that filling!

Even if you’re not staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, this dessert is worth a special trip to the hotel.

This next menu item may require a little more work (as in making an official dining reservation and taking a trip to Disney Springs), but trust us, it’s worth it. Surprise, surprise, we’re back to remind you that Homecomin’ serves up some of our FAVORITE foods in Disney World. Recently, we paid a visit to try some new menu items, and we found a new favorite!

We’re off to Homecomin’!

Let’s talk about Art’s Hot Chicken Sandwich for $21. It consists of a crispy fried chicken breast tossed in a buffalo-style hot sauce and dressed with tangy slaw, B&B pickles, and a drizzle of icebox dressing. This is a substantial sandwich, so come prepared to EAT!

Art’s Hot Chicken Sandwich

Ugh, our mouths water at the very thought of this sandwich. Note that the hot sauce has more of a “Disney spicy” flavor than a real “spicy” hot sauce, and the acidity from the crispy slaw and the sweetness of the pickles help cut down the heat.

There’s a lot happening here!

Listen, Homecomin’ knows what it’s doing. This was a tangy, colorful sandwich with bright flavors and plenty of salty, acidic elements. If you’re looking for something new to try at Homecomin’, we highly recommend this dish.
