The 2023 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays has officially begun at Disneyland Resort — a day EARLY!
Through January 7th, 2024, you can eat and drink your way around the festival, check out unique entertainment, and more. We’ve been trying all of the booths this year, and while there are tons of great food options, we’ve been extra excited about one booth in particular. Favorite Things has been around since 2018, and often it has offered some of our, well, favorite things! Come see how it went this year.
Menu
This year, Favorite Things has a new item to try — the Mad Santa Macaron Inspired by the Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses.” There’s also a returning Braised Pork Belly Adobo, Cherry Mango Punch, and Churro Toffee Cold Brew Latte.
You can also get a Mickey Mouse-shaped Peppermint Glow Cube added to any beverage.
Or, a Holiday Swizzle Stick added to any beverage for $8.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Braised Pork Belly Adobo with garlic rice for $8.50. In the past, this item was served at the Holiday Duets booth and we really enjoyed it!
This year we thought it was a great dish again. There were generous chunks of pork, and the meat was tender and pulled apart really easily. The rice had a hint of garlic, but it wasn’t too strong. This was a good, hearty option!
We also tried the new Mad Santa Macaron Inspired by the Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses,” which is a chocolate macaron filled with ganache, peanut butter mousse, and salted pretzels, for $7.50.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t our favorite. The cookie was just okay, and while the pretzel and peanut butter were good, they were just a tiny portion all the way in the center.
For $7.50, we were expecting more from this one.
Drinks
For drinks, we tried the Cherry Mango Punch, which was made with mango purée, cherry and peach syrups, and lemon juice and was garnished with a frozen peach. This non-alcoholic option costs $7. This debuted last year at the Winter Sliderland booth, and we thought it was very refreshing with a heavy peach flavor. This year, We thought both the cherry and the peach stood out and that it was similarly refreshing and not too sweet.
The Churro Toffee Cold Brew Latte is also returning this year for $7.25. It is made with Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Mexico Origin Coffee, cinnamon sugar, vanilla bean, and almond milk garnished with churro syrup-flavored whipped cream and toffee crumble. In the past, we loved this drink — and thankfully, it’s as good as we remembered!
The toffee crumble reminded us of Disneyland churro toffee and we that they were super flavorful. The drink was a bit sweet, but we think cold brew fans will really love this.
OVERALL
This booth was a pretty solid choice — for the most part. The Braised Pork Belly was delicious and filling and we really loved both of the drinks!
Unfortunately, the macaron just didn’t do it for us, so if you’re specifically looking for a dessert, you might want to skip this booth.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
