The decorations are up, the sleigh bells are ringing, and Santa has arrived. That’s right — the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays is finally here.
There’s so much to see and do and we’re covering it ALL LIVE for you. Most importantly, though, we’re visiting ALL the food booths to check out this year’s food because that’s what we do. So let’s head on over to the Funnel Cake stand at the American Adventure pavilion and see what this year’s holiday season brings.
Menu
You’ll only find one menu item here, and — OF COURSE, it’s a seasonal funnel cake.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
The Holiday Cinnamon Celebration Funnel Cake for $12 is topped with powdered sugar, vanilla ice cream, cinnamon cookie crunch, cream cheese whipped cream, and gold dust inspired by the culinary treasures of the Kingdom of Rosas in Disney’s all-new animated musical film, Wish.
We REALLY wanted to like this, but the festive funnel cakes have sometimes been disappointing to us. This is just WAY too much. If it were just cinnamon fried dough with ice cream, this might have worked, especially as the dough was soft with that wonderful cinnamon flavor and some fried crispy bites.
Even the ice cream was really good, but there’s always been something special about vanilla ice cream on top of fried dough, right? But the cream cheese “whipped cream” tastes like that cheap frosting you buy in a tub. It was TOO thin and ENTIRELY too sweet.
Overall, that just ruins the dessert for us…it didn’t need to be quite so over-the-top. In this case, simple would have been better.
OVERALL
We would not eat this funnel cake again because it’s just way too much. We’d rather just have a regular funnel cake with ice cream, which you can also get here for $13.50. The Festival of the Holiday offering at the Funnel Cake Stand just isn’t for us.
That’s it for this special snack, but we’re not done yet — stay tuned to DFB for more reviews!
