Menu

Over at the  Yukon Holiday Kitchen, you can embrace the hearty flavors of Canadian classics. We’ve found a combo of returning favorites like the Beef Bourguignon and Snickers Snickerdoodle Cookie, as well as an exciting newcomer, the Seared Salmon! Plus, you can find a variety of rich beers or crisp wines to accompany your Canadian nosh. Or, if you prefer, you can grab a frosty cocktail or mocktail!

Yukon Menu 2023

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Our Spread!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the new item to the booth, the Seared Salmon with butternut squash purée, maple-bourbon glaze, and fennel-arugula salad. We picked up this item for $7!

Seared Salmon

We would recommend this just for the butternut maple sauce alone. You can easily cut through the salmon with just a spoon so there is no need to grab a knife for this one. The salmon seemed a little briny to us, but the butternut sauce helped cut that down a bit and added a delicious maple-sugar flavor to it. The salad it comes with feels more like a garnish to us, but it was still good!

Seared Salmom

Next, we dug into a returning favorite, and one that hasn’t let us down, yet: the Beef Bourguignon with crushed potatoesThis portion was $6.50. This is a hearty dish for a reasonable price and we’ve enjoyed it in past years. But we had to try it this year to see how it holds up!

Beef Bourguignon with crushed potatoes

We love it year after year. It’s hearty and could easily be a light lunch — the portion size is much more generous than what you get with the salmon.

Beef Bourguignon with crushed potatoes

We thought this dish was DELICIOUS. The potatoes were super creamy and we could taste the butter in them. It was a tad on the salty side, but overall a warm dish that is sure to satisfy on a cool night. It truly felt like we were having a super tender pot roast over mashed potatoes– and you can never go wrong with that!

Warm and Tasty!

And, rounding out the “eats” portion of this booth is dessert! The Yukon Holiday Kitchen is another stop on the Cookie Stroll! It is home to the SNICKERS-Doodle Cookie made with SNICKERS bar pieces for $3!

Snickerdoodle Cookie made with SNICKERS bar pieces

This is a sweet and rich cookie and another returning favorite.  We loved it last year as the cookie itself tasted like a regular sugar cookie with a hint of peanut butter, and the Snickers pieces on top were an added fun bonus. But, of course, we had to try it this year to see how it holds up!

Let’s split the cookie!

This year, we felt like there were some overpowering flavors– but it was good overall! It somehow managed to be soft and crunchy at the same time. There is A LOT of chocolate on this cookie between the candy and chocolate drizzle on top– which was a little overpowering. We feel like we lost a bit of the Snickerdoodle flavor with all of the chocolate on top, so it felt more like a sugar cookie to us. Don’t worry, it is still a delicious stop for the cookie stroll!

And, of course, we need something to wash it all down with!

Drinks

In terms of drinks at this booth, we got the Beer Flight, which includes 81Bay Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Banana Porter, Playalinda Brewing Co. Maple Cookie Blonde Ale, and Collective Arts Maple Porter. This beer flight was $10.25.

Yukon Beer Flight

These are all returning beers to the Yukon Holiday Kitchen, but we didn’t get a chance to try them last year, so we wanted to give them a go this year to see how they were!

We started off with tasting the Collective Arts Coffee Maple Porter. We really enjoyed this one! The coffee flavor is strong and has an aftertaste that is reminiscent of espresso. There are good maple undertones, but the coffee truly is the star of the show here.

Collective Arts Coffee Maple Porter

Next, it is time to taste the Playalinda Brewing Co. Maple Cookie Blonde Ale! We REALLY enjoyed this one. You can really get the maple cookie flavor in the aftertaste — but overall it is super smooth and sweet.

Finally, we have the 81Bay Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Banana Porter. We thought this was the weakest of the bunch, but it is still good! We didn’t get any banana flavor in this one, but we did get hints of the peanut butter which helped brighten it up a bit.

It also gets some bonus points because it was super smooth!

OVERALL

We really enjoyed this booth! If you’re looking for consistency and familiar flavors — this could be a hit for you! We recommend the Beer Flight if you’re looking to give some new flavors a try but want some options. If you stop and give this booth a try, be sure to give us your review in the comments below!
