We’ve got some SERIOUS things to talk about. You know — food things.
The 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun and it has a LOT to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, shows and storytellers to watch, souvenirs to grab (of course), and even a cookie stroll to complete. But don’t let it overwhelm you — we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — Refreshment Port — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
Over at the Refreshment Port, you’ll find just one festival-exclusive snack — but plenty of drinks! You can snag the Turkey Poutine to eat, or try two of the non-alcoholic options for beverages — the Gingerbread Milk Shake and the Eggnog.
There are also alcoholic versions of those two drinks, along with a cider option and a wine. Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
Since there’s only one snack at this spot, we had to grab it! The Turkey Poutine is made with sweet potato fries and turkey gravy, cranberry relish, and crispy onions for $9. We had a similar dish last year, but this one has been updated with sweet potato fries instead of regular ones.
If you like turkey and cranberry sandwiches and sweet potato fries, you’ll probably like this snack. The turkey was tender and the onions had a nice, crispy texture. The sweet potato fries were soft with some crispy bits, and the savory gravy helped balance out the sweetness.
However, we did end up thinking that this comes in a little too sweet. With the fries and the cranberry relish, it’s a lot of sugar. It all depends on your sugar tolerance, though.
What about the drinks?
Drinks
In terms of drinks at this booth, we got the Gingerbread Milk Shake for $4.75. This is also available with Whipped Cream Vodka for $12. When we’ve had this in the past, we thought the milkshake tasted like liquid ginger! This year, it was sadly just okay.
First of all, it was a serious mess. The whipped cream isn’t thick enough to keep its shape and just ended up melting all over everything. Since it’s pre-mixed and kept in a frozen drink machine, it’s not very smooth and creamy. On the flavor side, it reminded us a bit of medicine, which was NOT appetizing. Poor gingerbread milkshake — you’ve fallen so far!
We also snagged the Eggnog for $4.25. If you’re feeling frisky, you can get the Firenog which is just eggnog with Fireball Cinnamon Whisky for $11.50.
This is creamy and light with a great texture, but we didn’t love the flavor. It also had a medicinal quality to it, and it was a bit too artificially sweet. If you’re a diehard eggnog fan, you might like it more than we did.
Also available at this booth are the Keel Farms Hard Pumpkin Cider for $12 and the Pasek Cellars Cranberry Wine for $7.50.
OVERALL
In the end, Refreshment Port didn’t do too hot this year. We weren’t really impressed with anything we ate or drank. The textures were fairly nice, but the flavors were off on everything. Although, we don’t usually have quite as high hopes for this snack stand as we do the regular holiday kitchens, so it’s not as much of a letdown.
If you’re looking for some stellar festival offerings, this probably shouldn’t be your first stop. There are some truly delicious eats at the food booths instead!
POUTINE INCOMING! At Refreshment Port, you can find the slightly updated version of the Turkey Poutine! This year, it has sweet potato fries!
