This Disney World Treat Looks Like It Came Straight From ‘The Great British Baking Show’

In Disney World, the holidays are all around us: from the decorations in the parks to the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays to the food.

Grand Floridian Christmas Tree

Okay, so the best part — at least for us — is THE FOOD. Like, that shouldn’t come as a surprise, right? We found out about some new holiday snacks at two of Disney World’s Monorail resorts, which means we made a BEELINE over to those hotels to try them.

Our first stop was at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, where we took a moment to admire the giant gingerbread house again before heading to Gasparilla Island Grill to try two new holiday treats there. The first is a Present Peppermint Brownie Pop for $5.99, which is a Brownie filled with  House-made Peppermint Patty enrobed in White Chocolate on a stick.

All wrapped up like a present

First, we were surprised at how big the pop is. The brownie is nice and thick but soft. We will warn you, though, that the peppermint flavor is very strong, but it does have a peppermint patty inside. We liked the crunch added by the white chocolate coating.

It’s pretty big, too

We’ll give you a little head’s up, though: don’t eat that bow. It’s like gum paste or fondant, and it’s chewy…and weird. The chocolate is also SUPER messy and WILL stain your hands VERY red, making it look like you just left a crime scene. We also thought the peppermint flavor overpowered the chocolate.

Inside

We also got the Snowman Choux for $6.99, and yes, that’s “choux” as in something you hear a lot on The Great British Baking Show. It’s a Pâte à Choux filled with Spiced Mousse and Chocolate Bavarian Cream. We’re happy to report that this choux would 100% get a Paul Hollywood handshake. It’s fluffy and chewy with a nice crispiness around the edges. Also, just LOOK AT IT. It’s a work of art.

It’s SO PERFECT

The snowman’s head is filled with mousse, while the bottom has the cream. The mousse had a spiced eggnog or gingerbread flavor to it, but it still was light and delicate. The Bavarian cream in the bottom was richer, but very fluffy, and we’ll admit we liked it even more than the mousse. The scarf is that gummy chewy fondant stuff, so skip that, but otherwise, we’d get this again. We want to make the Grand Floridian chef who created this Star Baker this week.

Great choux

Well, things got a little iffier when we headed over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort to try the Holiday Cranberry Frangipane Cake for $6.49 at Contempo Cafe. It’s made with Almond Frangipane with Cranberry-Cherry Gel, White Chocolate Mousse, and Salted Honey Whip. We will say that we thought the frangipane and the fluffy cake were delicious with a subtle almond flavoring.

The Frangipane and cake are good

However, the toppings on this thing were OFF. That light almond flavor gets overpowered by the strong, tart cranberry. The salted honey whip is TOO salty and just throws the whole thing off. This dessert needed to be more light and mild, and would’ve worked way better without the heavy flavors of the topping.

The toppings did NOT work

So we guess 2 out of 3 aren’t bad, but if we had to choose just one, we’d go with that Snowman Choux. If you’re visiting Disney World this holiday season, it’s definitely worth the trek over to the Grand Floridian to try it.
