There are so many underrated activities in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We’re not sure everyone takes full advantage of everything at this park. Yes, you can go on a safari and visit Pandora, but you can also check out the park’s many walking trails and see even MORE animals.
PLUS, you can head to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and visit Conservation Station, where you can actually PET animals and see the Disney World veterinarians at work. Conservation Station is also home to the Animation Experience, where you can learn to draw Disney characters — and now, a NEW drawing lesson is available.
Dr. Mark Penning, one of the experts who works with the animals at Animal Kingdom, shared the new Animation Experience on Instagram. Now, you can learn to draw one of Disney’s NEWEST characters: Valentino from Wish.
So, how can you find the Animation Experience? Take the Wildlife Express Train in Africa. You’ll take a peaceful 7-minute ride through Animal Kingdom, including backstage areas you can’t see when you’re in the park. Besides booking a tour, this is the ONLY way to get a behind-the-scenes look at the park.
The train will take you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, where you’ll find Conservation Station. The Animation Experience is in the main building. You’ll be taught to draw Valentino by a real Disney animator and learn how Disney animators use REAL animals as inspiration for characters. When you’re done, you’ll have a unique souvenir that YOU MADE to take home with you.
So be sure to add that to your list of “must-dos” the next time you visit Animal Kingdom.
