We Have Some Disney Animal Photos GUARANTEED to Brighten Your Day or Your Money Back (OK, We Lied About the Money Part)

One of our favorite parts about visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting to see all the animals and watching them interact with the things in their area.

Tree of Life

Whether we’re on the safari, walking through one of the two walking trails, or just exploring the parks– there is so much animal activity to be seen. We could talk all day about the unique animal experiences that the park has to offer, but we’ll save that for another day. We just saw some of the cutest — and most festive — animal enrichment activities happening in DAK, and it is sure to brighten your day.

We LOVE seeing everything that Disney World does to celebrate the holidays. We’ve seen a lot of decorations, parties, and merchandise come out so far, but we know something we haven’t seen until now. That thing is holiday-themed enrichment for the animals at Animal Kingdom.

The Cast Members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom decided to give their family of gorillas presents to open as a form of enrichment, and let’s be real, we KNOW they love opening presents just as much as the rest of us do.

Their presents are full of some of their favorite food items — oats, popcorn, alfalfa, hay, currents, carrots, and more. The goal is to get the gorillas to engage in their natural behaviors to open these presents, and since they’re natural foragers, they have the perfect skill set to do so.

We’ve also seen quite a few other enrichment activities around Animal Kingdom recently. This Cotton-top tamarin is showing off their most recent enrichment activity — we wonder how well he did with trying to get the food off of the leaf (we mean, getting the ornaments off the tree…duh).

No animal is too big or too small for enrichment activities. The animal care teams at Animal Kingdom use these enrichment activities for all species as an indicator of their mental and physical well-being, which we think is pretty amazing.

They even made motorized balls for cheetahs so that they could utilize their instincts to hunt and chase things. They showed off this creation on an episode of Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Disney+. The cheetahs weren’t the only big cats to get a fun new enrichment activity!

The lions have their very own ice sculpture that is shaped like a warthog. This helps encourage their behaviors like stalking, biting, pawning, and scratching and also gives them a safe way to do it!

Time to head into Harambe to see the safari!

We love seeing the animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom engage in their natural behaviors– especially when they’re making it festive. We’ll be sure to report on any other fun enrichment activities we see the animals engaging in, so keep checking in with us at DFB to read about what we find next!
