Right now, we’ve got a perfect example to illustrate how Disney handles cruises scheduled to go through areas where bad weather has been forecasted. The Disney Dream is supposed to set sail on December 14th to the Eastern Caribbean/Bahamas. However, the weather could bring high winds and rain that will impact the area.

There she is! The Disney Dream

Based on the storm’s forecast and estimated track, Disney has decided to change the itinerary for this particular cruise. So, instead of sailing to Nassau and Castaway Cay, the Disney Dream will now head to the Western Caribbean and visit Cozumel, Mexico.  Here’s the new itinerary for that cruise:

  • Thursday – Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
  • Friday – Day at Sea (previously Nassau, The Bahamas)
  • Saturday – Cozumel, Mexico (previously Castaway Cay)
  • Sunday – Day at Sea
  • Monday – Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Disney shared a message with passengers via email, too.

So when weather could impact a cruise, the cruise will get a new itinerary. Disney will also be sending emails with more information to travel agents and cruisers booked on that ship. So keep that in mind if you’re booked for this specific cruise.
