If you haven’t planned your trip yet, don’t panic! There’s still plenty of time to do so, and some people who live close by love to plan trips that are only a few weeks away. But before you plan your trip, there are a few big decisions you need to make.

When To Go

Many families are only able to go to Disney World during the summer, over long weekends, or during other holidays. And yes, you can absolutely go to Disney World during that same time, but expect some heavy crowds.

However, going when it’s not a holiday isn’t necessarily a fool-proof plan either. There are a LOT of construction projects going on around the resort in 2024, which means some new experiences will be opening, not to mention popular runDisney races that may catch you off guard.

Essentially what we’re saying is, be sure to do your research on the time you plan on going, because you may find that there’s a big change happening that you wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

Which Hotel To Book

Deciding where to stay when you’re at Disney World may be a little more advanced than you think. If you’re staying on-property, you’ll need to choose between a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Resort first, and then you also may want to make sure there won’t be construction going on at your chosen hotel during your stay.

Many Disney World hotels are under construction right now to make them bigger and better, but for the time being, that means it’s not the most pleasant to be around. Some are building whole new buildings, while others are just planning to renovate their pools, but all construction can put a damper on your vacation plans.

Should You Get The Disney Dining Plan?

If you’re going to be staying on-property, you may be wondering about getting the Disney Dining Plan, which is reutrning in January of 2024. This plan allows you to essentially pay for all your meals and snacks ahead of time, erasing the stress during your vacation, but it’s not for everyone.

There are tons of pros and cons when it comes to booking the Disney Dining Plan. One of the major pros is that it gets all the stress out of the way at one time, but one of the major cons is that many families find they can’t actually eat all the food included with the meal, and so they end up wasting money.

Should You Buy Park Hopper?

Now that Disney World’s park hopping rules are going back to normal in early January 2024 (park hopping all day), the question is, should you buy a park hopper ticket?

Park hopper tickets are more expensive than single-park tickets, but it allows you to jump around from park to park as much as you’d like each day. It’s a great way to experience your favorite attractions if they’re in all different parks and you’ve visited multiple times before, but for individuals or families who want to experience each park in full, it may not be the best use of that additional money.

It’s also harder to travel between parks with larger groups and younger children, since it takes time out of the parks themselves, but it can be a great choice for solo travelers or adult groups.

Which Restaurants To Book Advance Dining Reservations For

Some table service (sit down) restaurants in Disney World are notorious for filling up the MOMENT guests can book them 60-days out from the beginning of their trip. Some of these restaurants include Cinderella’s Royal Table, Space 220, Le Cellier, ‘Ohana, and Be Our Guest, to name a few.

These restaurants are much more expensive than quick service spots, but many of them offer experiences like no other, such as character meet and greets, or the opportunity to dine in an extravagant area like Cinderella Castle. However, if you’re looking to dine at one of these spots, you need to figure that out with your group BEFORE you’re 60 days out from your vacation!

Now, don’t get us wrong, last minute reservations absolutely pop up, but they come and go quickly and we don’t recommend just relying on getting lucky and being able to book one last minute. So talk with your group and decide if you would like to drop the cash on getting your whole group into one of these spots, then make sure you’re ready 60 days before your trip to make that reservation!
