Construction continues as the former Splash Mountain transforms into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park. On a recent visit, we spotted new scrim had gone up at the ride.
Scrim Added to Entrance of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The newly placed scrim covers the entrance to the attraction. The Splash Mountain entrance sign was removed from this location earlier this summer.
The scrim only covers the front of the entrance structure. The rest has still not yet been covered or surrounded by scaffolding.
Further to the left of the entrance, you can see scaffolding in place for more construction work along the flume path.
A large, already-existing hole in the side of the mountain has now been tagged with pink spray paint — possibly to prepare for coverage.
Construction on the exterior of the attraction was in motion during our visit, as we spotted crews working in various areas of the mountain. Here, it looks like sections of the facade toward the top are being prepped for paint.
In our last update, work had begun on plumbing and welding for the attraction.
The Future of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The reimagining of Splash Mountain into a “The Princess and the Frog” attraction at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World was announced in 2020, and the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure name was revealed in 2022.
The attraction will pick up after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” In 1927, Tiana founded the Tiana’s Foods co-ops, which is located in a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops along the waters. During Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Tiana and alligator Louis venture into the bayou to find animal friends. They’re preparing a special Mardi Gras celebration for the people of New Orleans.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will feature 17 new characters, including Prince Naveen’s younger brother, Ralphie. The Splash Mountain track will remain, but the attraction will get new set dressing and new audio-animatronics. There will be multiple Tiana audio-animatronics, and she will sport a new adventuring outfit.
Disneyland has already seen major changes that will make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In September 2023, Tiana’s Palace, a counter service restaurant inspired by Tiana’s restaurant in “The Princess and the Frog,” opened its doors.
