Visiting Walt Disney World Resort means that you’ll most likely have to interact with and utilize the My Disney Experience mobile app. Today, a new pop-up message has been added to clarify and warn users about in-app purchases.
My Disney Experience Adds Pop-Up About In-App Purchases
While opening the My Disney Experience app, we saw the message come up immediately.
The pop-up reads:
In-App Purchases
This app contains in-app purchases for services like Disney PhotoPass downloads that cost real money.
Users must tap “OK” before being allowed to use the app once again, confirming that they have read and agree to the notice about in-app purchases. It does not reappear once you’ve confirmed, even when fully closing out and reopening the app.
In the “My Account” section of My Disney Experience, users can add their preferred payment method, or, in the case of Disney resort hotel guests, access their PIN used to charge purchases to the room via MagicBand or Key to the World Card. These forms of payment are used to make mobile food orders while in the parks, complete merchandise mobile checkout, or make in-app purchases.
With this notice, it appears that at least some guests have had trouble with in-app purchases, whether made unintentionally or without realizing that offerings like Disney PhotoPass downloads do indeed cost money.
Most recently, My Disney Experience was updated to show guests exactly which Walt Disney World theme park they had a reservation for on the app’s home page and in the “My Day” section of the app. Prior to this update, the “My Day” tab simply listed “Park Reservation” for the number of reservations a user had booked and would open a web browser window to view or modify the reservation.
Have you seen this pop-up appear on your My Disney Experience app? Have you ever had trouble with in-app purchases? Sound off in the comments.
