X user Peaceful Thrill Seeker shared new daytime footage of the “How to Train Your Dragon” spinning ride testing at Epic Universe, the new Universal Orlando Resort theme park scheduled to open in 2025. We previously saw footage of the ride at night.
“How to Train Your Dragon” Ride Testing
Watch the video embedded below.
The ride is designed with guests in several winged seats on one end of a long pole, while a dragon on the other end appears to be flying randomly, spinning and twisting the pole.
The spinning ride is near the entrance to the “How to Train Your Dragon” land, likely named the Isle of Berk. There are two spinners, one with a blue dragon and one with a red dragon (perhaps as a reference to the extinct Dueling Dragons / Dragon Challenge coaster from Universal Islands of Adventure).
These photos by bioreconstruct show the colorful dragon-themed ride seats.
The other Isle of Berk attractions will be a roller-coaster, boat ride, and stage show. The stage show will likely be a version of “Untrainable,” a “How to Train Your Dragon” show at Universal Studios Beijing. Universal trademarked “The Untrainable Dragon” earlier this year. Other trademarked names are Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Fyre Drill, and Dragon Racer’s Rally. The spinning ride could be Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, the boat ride Fyre Drill, and the coaster Dragon Racer’s Rally.
The only land officially confirmed for the new Epic Universe theme park is Super Nintendo World. In addition to the Isle of Berk, the park is rumored to have a Universal Classic Monsters land named Dark Universe and a new Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The central corridor, leading between the main park entrance and the in-park hotel, will be a celestial-themed non-IP-based area. Check out our last Epic Universe construction update.
