While visiting EPCOT this evening, we spotted that not just one, but a pair of Crocs had gotten caught on the up escalator in The Land Pavilion, closing the walkway — just a week after another stuck shoe incident.
Pair of Stuck Crocs Close The Land Pavilion Escalator
An A-frame that reads “Walkway Closed” and “Sorry for the inconvenience” now sits at the top of the up escalator, which normally gets quite busy during the day. There is also a sign blocking the entrance to the escalator on the floor below.
Underneath the sign, we spotted the culprits: a pair of tie-dye Crocs.
The tops of the Crocs were caught inside the escalator’s “teeth,” where the steps fold into the machinery that drives the staircase forward. It is known that Crocs are not the safest footwear to wear while riding an escalator.
This is only the latest instance we’ve seen of guests’ shoes falling victim to the moving staircase.
To the side of the escalator, a caution sticker advises guests to “Hold handrail, attend children, avoid sides, no wheeled vehicles.”
At least for the time being, guests will have to use the stairs next to the escalator or the often-crowded elevators meant for those traveling in wheelchairs or other mobility aides to traverse through The Land Pavilion.
It is unknown when the Crocs will be removed and the escalator will be operational once again.
