Why We’re AVOIDING Disneyland This Weekend

There’s never a bad time to visit a Disney theme park, right? Well…actually there might be. 😬

Disneyland

You could say there are “good, better, and best” times to visit the parks, and we always try to go during the best times. One of the biggest factors to look at when deciding when to go to a Disney park is the CROWDS. Big events and holidays tend to draw more crowds, so when those are happening, you can expect longer wait times at the rides and attractions. There’s a major event coming up SOON at Disneyland, and it’s gonna bring tons of people to the parks!

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is happening from January 11th through the 14th, 2024!

This event is returning in 2024 after a hiatus, so we’re expecting BIG crowds. In fact, all of the races happening at the parks are completely SOLD OUT. (Note that virtual races are still available.)

The weekend consists of a 5K race, 10K, and Half Marathon. Some runners are also participating in the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge, so they’ll run both the 10K and the Half Marathon.

The Half Marathon Weekend is a particularly big deal because it means that the popular Coast to Coast Challenge is back, where runners compete in runDisney races at both Disneyland AND Disney World. To participate in the Coast to Coast Challenge, you must complete any runDisney race of 10 miles or more at both Disney World and Disneyland in 2024.

There aren’t many races at Disneyland, so we’re expecting this weekend to be packed.
