The bathrooms located behind the Frontierland train station at Magic Kingdom are now closed while construction of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue continues in the area.
Frontierland Restrooms Closed for Construction
Walkways under the train station have remained open during construction for the past year only for guests to reach the restrooms. In December, we got to walk on a new flagstone path of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue for the first time. But the walkways new and old are now closed temporarily.
Construction walls and rolling planters block access beyond the train station. The nearest restrooms are located in Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. The old entrance stairs for the train station in this area have also been entirely removed.
Beneath the overpass, to the left of the Frontierland train station, paths with brickwork and railings are being worked on. The majority of the area is still unpaved.
These railings are similar to those we spotted in December of 2023, though the railings here have yet to be painted.
More Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Construction
Over at the queue’s barn, more flagstone is being added. The yellow barn features a mural that includes Tiana’s trumpet-playing alligator friend, Louis, painted by Malaika Favorite, a Louisiana artist.
The walled-off area around the recently demolished Laughin’ Place play area is also getting new flooring, as the former flooring is currently being broken up.
We were told by Walt Disney World Railroad Cast Members that a playground area should reopen in roughly three months, per the construction team.
Inside of the attraction, “The Princess and the Frog” theming is taking shape, as even more of Mama Odie’s bottle lanterns have been added to the drop area of the ride.
During our visit just a few days ago on January 13, only two bottle lanterns were hanging from the ceiling. Now, it looks like there are at least eight.
Thanks to concept art, and a recent tour of the attraction taken by a NOLA.com reporter, it appears this moment may be a magical, climatic scene featuring Mama Odie.
Construction team members were working on the outdoor flume area during our visit. There have yet to be any major themed elements added to this portion of the ride. The NOLA.com reporter stated that all of the indoor fake vegetation from Splash Mountain was being swapped out with Louisiana-native plants, like cypress trees, marsh grasses, and Spanish moss for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so it’s safe to assume the real outdoor vegetation will have a similar feel.
