NEW Permit Reveals UPDATES on Lengthy Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closure in Disney World

Disney World rides can be things of wonder — but they can also be fickle beasts.

It makes sense, after all, considering these attractions see quite a bit of constant, daily use for months and even years on end. So, every once in a while, Disney has to close a ride for refurbishment to give it a little TLC. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith in Hollywood Studios has been closed with no end in sight — but now we’ve got an update about this project!

A new permit was recently filed for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster refurbishment in Hollywood Studios

It’s not very specific, only listing “general construction” in the description, but it’s a sign that things are moving along over here. We also noted that the contractor listed on the permit is Adena Corporation. Based on their website, Adena has done work on a number of things, including amusement parks like SeaWorld. They’ve worked on things like rides, waterparks, lazy rivers, and more.

We also know they worked on previous Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster refurbishments, along with work on the Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom.

The permit is valid through February 6th, 2025 — but hopefully, this closure won’t last that long! Typically, permits are automatically dated one year from the date they were filed. Disney’s website shows the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closure will only last through this summer, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates.

In other Disney World ride news, we officially have confirmation that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in Magic Kingdom in the summer of 2024 — we can’t wait!
