Progress is being made on the new DVC Tower under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Lagoon Side
New metal overhang frames have been installed on the lagoon side of the tower in the past few weeks. During our Thursday visit, we saw crew members installing facia — flat panels — on the corner of an overhang near the Tuvalu and Fiji buildings.
The overhangs now line the length of the rooftop on the lagoon side of the tower. This side has also been almost completely painted with a light orange-brown-cream color.
Scaffolding is up around the north end of the tower, which features white primer paint over some areas. Crew members in and out of a cherry-picker vehicle were also working on the overhangs at this end.
It looks like they were installing more of the framework and facia.
Facia installation is focused on the corners first.
The first overhang installed was the brown wing-shaped piece at the very top of the center section of the tower. This one is covered in metal sheeting. A matching wing-shaped overhang is on the other side of the building, too.
The sliding glass doors in this section are all covered in tarps as crews have painted the walls. Some gray concrete remains unpainted on the top two floors.
Windows were installed on the first three floors in the lobby area. Some windows cover two floors. The walls around these are also unpainted. Some dark brown facia is on the edge of one wall.
Again, when it comes to the new overhangs, the facia is just on and around the corners.
We noticed new doors and door frames on these balconies between two sections of the tower. The balconies go up in a tier, getting smaller towards the top. They currently have temporary railings.
White door frames and some white doors are visible. There are empty rectangles in the walls above the doors where wires run across the ceilings.
By the time we made it around to this side of the building, we no longer saw crew members working on the same corner of the overhang.
We did notice these sliding glass doors are not covered in tarps but the paint around them has been completed. The lines around the windows are looking clean.
Through the windows, it’s clear there is still a lot of work to be done inside. Room walls are still steel frameworks. The tower is still scheduled to open this year.
It looks like the crew members in a cherry-picker we saw at the start of the day moved to the opposite corner on the south side.
There is facia on this corner of the overhang, too.
This wing is mostly free of scaffolding, but there is some on these balconies.
Outdoor Bar
An outdoor bar or restaurant is connected to the tower’s bottom floor. It has a long rectangular overhang and a rotunda at the corner.
Crews have poured concrete into the outdoor dining space. The future bar is outlined with a circle of wood on the ground. We could also see hookups for future equipment.
Pool
A new pool is also under construction next to the south side of the tower.
More concrete has been poured into the basin for the pool.
There is now a step or bench along one wall of the basin.
A small circle nearby is outlined with wood walls.
This may be a bilge for collecting excess water.
Monorail Side
More painting and cleaning around door frames has also been completed on the Monorail side of the tower.
The right wing is almost completely orange and brown. Scaffolding covers it on this side. A gray concrete wall surrounds the wing.
The towers on either side of the building’s center are a light cream color. Much of the center section is still gray but some of the balcony walls are cream-colored. The wing-shaped overhang on this side is also covered in metal sheets.
The north wing of the building is covered in scaffolding. Most of this section has not been painted. Crews were recently completing the balcony walls.
Temporary overhangs in the scaffolding cover crew entrances on the bottom floor.
The very end of the building has been painted orange and dark brown.
The new Disney Vacation Club tower will be part of the same condo association as current Polynesian DVC offerings.
