Every Disney World Ride Closure in 2024

Disney is a magical place for many reasons — the views, the nostalgia, and, of course, the food! However, for many of us, the most exciting part of Disney — like any other theme park — are the rides and attractions!

Mine Train!

Lots of new and exciting things are coming to Disney in 2024, and we know many of you are planning your trip around those opening dates. However, be careful, because there’s something else you should be wary of when planning your trip.

Like anywhere else, Disney closes numerous rides and attractions throughout the parks for routine maintenance and upkeep — so that park visitors like us can be safe and enjoy the rides the same way we did when they were brand new.

DO NOT USE

Several ride and attraction closures are happening in 2024, and we’ve listed them all out for you! While most of them are expected to open again sometime this year, just make sure you’re aware of those dates when planning so that you aren’t disappointed when you arrive. The good news is that many of these closures will be easy to avoid depending on when you’re planning a park visit.

Magic Kingdom Attraction Closures

Although Magic Kingdom doesn’t have many planned closures for 2024, it does have one of the longest planned closures.

Splash Mountain

As many of you already know, Splash Mountain permanently closed on January 23rd, 2023.

The same flume-type ride is currently being reimagined to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is set to open in summer 2024!

Country Bear Jamboree

No, Country Bear Jamboree is not a ride, but it is a very popular attraction that we felt deserved to be on this list. The Country Bears have taken a break from performing for a major overhaul.

Country Bear Jamboree

The show closed on January 27th, 2024, and Disney has announced that it will reopen with an all-new show featuring new songs this summer. So if you’re headed to Magic Kingdom in March, just know that you might spot one of the bears walking around, but you won’t be able to catch their show.

EPCOT Attraction Closures

Joy (from Inside Out) Meet and Greet

Fans of Inside Out could meet Joy in ImageWorks in EPCOT. But this year, she’ll be switching things up!

Joy at EPCOT!

If you’re looking to say howdy or twirl with Joy, you’ll need to head over to Pixar Plaza in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On June 10th, Joy will be moving there to join her other Pixar friends and celebrate her continued adventures with Riley and the gang with the debut of Inside Out 2.

Frozen Ever After

Frozen Ever After in EPCOT will be closed from November 2nd through November 6th, 2024This is a relatively short closure, but it’s still something to consider and plan for if you’ll be visiting EPCOT during this time. If you’ve got little Frozen fans in your party, you might want to warn them ahead of time that they won’t get to experience this ride.

Elsa, you good?

Of course, you can still get your Frozen fix by meeting Anna and Elsa in the Norway Pavilion or by seeing For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Studios Attraction Closures

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

A fan-favorite thrill ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed for a lengthy refurbishment on January 8th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is an exciting, indoor coaster that you blast around on listening to Aerosmith hits.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

At first, we didn’t know how long it would be closed, but the ride’s website eventually stated that it would reopen again this coming summer. It’s not uncommon for this ride to go through lengthy refurbishments. We saw the same thing in 2023 when it closed in February and reopened in May. It’s possible that will happen again

Voyage Of The Little Mermaid

This live show featuring special effects, music, and characters from The Little Mermaid is an attraction that never made a return after park-closures in 2020. There is still no re-opening date set in place.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

Disney announced in December 2023 that a NEW show — “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” — is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024! It’s also been confirmed that Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in Disney World.

Blizzard Beach Water Park

Ever since the water parks first reopened, the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks have been operating on opposite schedules. When one opens, the other one immediately closes. Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is open, which means that  Blizzard Beach  is closed right now.

Other Possible Closures

2023’s Destination D23 announced A TON of potential upcoming changes, and while we don’t have official dates for any of the following attractions, you should know it is possible that the refurbishments and closures of these attractions could begin in 2024.

Dinosaur

One of these rides includes DINOSAUR over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DinoLand U.S.A. is already being phased out and Disney hinted that an all-new Indiana Jones attraction could arrive in Animal Kingdom, possibly replacing DINOSAUR.

Is this goodbye to It’s Tough To Be A Bug?

This Animal Kingdom attraction change is certain to happen, it’s just a matter of when. It’s Tough to be a Bug! is getting replaced with a NEW Zootopia show at some point, and that could be as early as 2024. The new show is expected to be filled with humor and action while taking the audience through the different biomes from the movie.

Test Track at EPCOT is also scheduled to get a rethemingLike the other possible closures we’ve mentioned, there is no set timeline to Test Track’s retheme so it’s very possible it remains open all year in 2024 without any refurbishment or closures. With that said, the chance that Test Track — along with DINOSAUR and It’s Tough to be a Bug! — closes temporarily in 2024 is always a possibility.

There ya have it! Those are all of the 2024 attractions closures happening at Disney World — that we know of. We will update this post if more closures are announced!
