A woman is suing Disneyland Resort and two Cast Members over an April 2022 incident in which Goofy knocked her over.
Lawsuit Over Goofy Running Into Guest
Katrina Griffin was at Disney California Adventure on April 3, 2022. While she was bent over to tie her daughter’s shoes, Goofy “walked directly” into her and fell on her with “all of his body weight,” causing her to fall onto the “hard cement.” This resulted in “severe, traumatic, debilitating, and permanent injuries that necessitated significant medical care as well as emotional pain and suffering,” the lawsuit alleges.
The suit did not describe her injuries but says they “will result in some permanent disability.”
Griffin is suing Disneyland Resort, the Cast Member in the Goofy costume, and the Cast Member working as Goofy’s handler, claiming the latter failed to stop the incident. The Cast Members are identified as “John Doe 1” and “John Doe 2” in the lawsuit.
Griffin requests a jury trial to pursue damages for health care bills and loss of earnings. She’s also seeking damages for negligence.
The lawsuit was filed in Orange County Superior Court in late March. A case management conference is scheduled for September 4.
KTLA reached out to Disneyland Resort for comment but did not hear back before their publication.
